Table Numbers

June 20th, 2012 @ 2:41 pm by Mrs. Unicorn

All our vendors were booked by mid May.

You would think that meant I could just sit back and relax for the next 106 days.

WRONG!

With less than four months to go, I had to really get cracking on my DIY list, which had remained untouched since the yarn balls. Next victim? Table numbers.

After stalking other wedding blogs and Pinterest, I decided I would copy the framed table-number idea. My plan would have worked flawlessly had Michaels not discontinued their line of wooden numbers. I checked Hobby Lobby, but wouldn’t you know it? They didn’t carry the darn numbers either.

A lesser bride might have panicked, but not a Unicorn bride.

I found these at Michaels. They’re the right size for this project, and if anybody has a problem with the fact that I used letters instead of numbers, well, they can just take a long walk off a short pier.

First, I painted all the letters white. Then I purchased some frames and painted them to match.

I bought pretty fabric to mount the numbers on.

And voila! The finished product:

Did you run into any problems that threatened to derail your DIY projects? How did you handle them? Do you think anyone will care that I used letters instead of numbers?

Genius idea! I wanted to do the framed numbers too but got stumped when I couldn’t find [small enough] wooden numebrs anywhere. My FMIL offered to take over though and I don’t really know what she’s doing :S I’m actually super nervous about it.

That is awesome! I don’t think anyone will care, letters or numbers! I actually had the same problem, so I decide to use pretty paper and cut the numbers from there, although I’m debating whether or not to spray some glitter on them now. *Sigh* Oh and btw your comment on the long walk made me laugh lots! :-) )) I might use that in the future with my FI! LOL! :-)

These looks fabulous! We used letters (although not on frames) and it worked just as well as numbers, plus there’s less to buy if you have more than 9 tables :)

@Youngbride: Thanks! That’s sweet of your FMIL to offer, but the control freak in me can definitely see how that would be a cause for some anxiety.

@dazzledbyeddy: If my vote counts, I vote glitter! Glitter makes everything better. Hahaha. And I’m glad you got a kick outta the ‘long walk off a short pier’ phrase.

@Pony: I’ll have to hunt through your old posts to find your letters. I wanna seeeee.

These came out cute! I think I like the letters better than the numbers because it’s a fresh new take on the trend! I’m currently thinking about tables and how to label them (words, numbers, places…), so many options!

Those look beautiful, I love the color background you chose!

I bought the wooden numbers while they were still for sale… Numbers 1 through 14. I ended updoing something simpler for our table numbers – paper numbers on stakes – so I need to resell my wooden numbers. PM me if y’all are interested, I will create a classified ad.

I cant believe Michaels does not carry wooden numbers anymore! My table numbers were exactly like yours and I had one hell of a time finding wooden numbers! I searched all ends of the earth until I found numbers but if I would have known they were being discontinued I would not have done that to myself, I just would have used letters!

@Ms. Voyageur: If only I had known about your numbers. Le sigh.

@Priya and Beanstalk: Thanks! Glad you like them!

@soyjoy: At least you FOUND them, though! Good for you! I gave up after two Michael’s and one Hobby Lobby. At least you had the patience to keep trying. Hahaha.

I did the same thing but with the numbers. I had all enough for 1-11 but had a slight panic attack when I realized I was going to have 12 tables. After searching high and low for the discontinued numbers I just used mailbox numbers from Lowes for table 12.

If any brides need them – I still have my table numbers from the wedding.

Love that you are using letters instead of numbers! Numbers are boring. ;)

You know, after all’s said and done, letters are not that bad. I could have gone completely bananas and had Table Animals; the bride and groom would have Table Unicorn, of course. Or Table Shapes; Dodecahedron, anyone? Or any number of weird Table Number substitutes. So Table Letters seem downright tame by comparison.

Looooooove them! They turned out beautifully, and either no one will notice the switch, or if they do they’ll find it interesting/different/uinique. Nice save! :D
