The South has definitely earned a special place in my heart (alongside my Virginia born and bred fiance, of course!). We are planning a traditional Christian ceremony at my alma mater in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, followed by a rocking reception filled with Southern cooking and vintage/shabby chic details. When we’re not wedding planning, we enjoy spending time with our three dogs, going for runs together, watching plenty of football (or baseball depending on the season), and sampling new wine.

The Hawk OOT Bags

July 11th, 2012 @ 10:18 am by Mrs. Hawk

Although our Williamsburg wedding was hardly a destination wedding, the majority of our guests stayed at the hotel we blocked. Knowing this made providing out-of-town bags for our guests a priority of ours. We kept the contents simple sticking to snack foods and plenty of Williamsburg information for those staying the entire weekend.

Here is the breakdown of what each bag contained.

Snacks:

  • 2 bags Utz chips (purchased at Costco)
  • 10 Hershey Kisses (Costco)
  • 2 packs of Lance peanut butter crackers (Costco)
  • 2 bags of Hubbies Virginia Peanuts (Hubs Peanuts)
  • 2 bottles of water

Williamsburg Info:

  • Colonial Guide (including several detailed maps)
  • VIP Coupon Book for the Premium Outlets
  • Colonial Williamsburg pamphlet
  • Williamsburg Winery pamphlet
  • Postcard of the Wren Building (where we got married!)

Other

  • The Hawk wedding packet
  • 2 Advil packets (purchased from Amazon)

I packaged all of the goodies into Kraft gift bags purchased from the Dollar Tree (two bags for $1), and finished them off with a hanging tag of our pre-ceremony monogram.

We’re totally doing OOT bags, I love them! :) You did a great job – the Advil is a super nice touch.

So yeah. I’m pretty much stealing your packing list and using this as my OOT bag guide. :)

Loved this, we are also doing OOT bags so I love to see what people did for theirs :) And my very favorite is when people package in food and water – you can never go wrong!

I was having a hard time thinking of things to put in our bags because like you, our wedding is not really in a “destination” spot. I love local though and want to include some things from the area but am having a hard time finding stuff (that’s affordable!)

Sounds great to me! I really really really wanted to do OT bags for our guest but simply ran out of time. We had so many other goodies that I don’t think they were missed… but I was still sad about it!

I really wanted to do them, but the hotel that most of our guests are staying in charges to deliver them. :-(

I don’t know if I’m going to be able to figure out where all of our guests are staying, to do OOT bags — but I wish I could! I think they’re such a great idea.

I love this idea, I was wondering how you were getting them put into each of the rooms?

I know that if we have several guests staying at a hotel, we would be employing out of town bags, as well. Kudos to you for putting together such a helpful (and delicious) OOT bag.

We’re doing OOT bags!! I think they are such a fun way to welcome your guests! We’re thinking along the same lines… lots of tasty goodies (plus some warm weather items, like sunscreen etc.).

@whomajigi: I’m so glad I was able to help!

@Miss Treasure: Our hotel charged as well, but it was basically just a tip for the bellhop. I thought it was reasonable.

@mckeestephanie: We left them at the front desk and the bellhop delivered them to the rooms for us!

Thanks for all of the positive feedback! :)
