Mrs. Coach, Dallas Age and Occupation: 21, Undergraduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Retail Sales/Management Engagement Date: October 14, 2011 Wedding Date: October 2012 Venue: Piazza in the Village About Me: I was born and raised in the piney woods of East Texas, but Dallas has recently stolen my heart (along with Mr. Coach, of course!) I love classic rock, suspense novels, and my sweet Mini Aussie puppy, Memphis. My fiancé and I are planning a traditional wedding filled with romance, and we can’t wait to combine our own personal touches with a timeless affair. We’re young in years, but are also old souls that love good food and great music, and enjoy many things that are well before our time. We’re planning this wedding together, learning lots, and relying on good wine and reruns of Seinfeld to keep us sane along the way!
About Mrs. Coach

Honeymooning with Mickey

July 18th, 2012 @ 9:33 am by Mrs. Coach

Mr. Coach paid the final balance on our trip just a few days ago, so it’s official: We’re going on a cruise for our honeymoon! But not just any cruise, a Disney cruise! That’s right, we’re going to spend our first few days as husband and wife relaxing with Mickey and all of his friends.

I know what you’re thinking—a Disney Cruise for your honeymoon? And you would have somewhat of a point. Yes, the Disney Cruise Line does focus on family vacations and events for kids. Yes, there will be many, many kids on the boat with us. But that won’t stop us!

Mr. Coach and I (along with The Potions, The Castles and others) are both really big fans of Disney for multiple reasons. First of all, Disney goes all out when it comes to accommodations and experience. Case in point: Grand Floridian & Grand Californian.

Grand Floridian Hotel, Walt Disney World

But it’s not just the hotels—it’s the atmosphere. They don’t let the fact that their main clientele is 12 and under affect the quality. They go all out with themes, decorations, and quality service. Another (significant) reason we love Disney is the FOOD. We love some good food, y’all. While I haven’t been to Victoria & Albert’s (I would’ve been too young to appreciate it anyway), Mr. Coach has experienced the food there and can’t wait for more yummy Disney cuisine. The ship we will be going on has one French inspired restaurant that I am particularly excited about, with a menu designed by Chef Arnaud Lallement, as well as Scott Hunnel from Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s. All of that to say—we love food and are already salivating over the yummy meals that will be waiting on that big ocean liner.

But why Disney? Surely we could get good food and great service on many other cruise ships? Well, to be quite frank: We really just like Disney, and the fact that the boat will be filled with families really doesn’t bother us much at all. In fact, we’re kind of excited about it. It will be a laid-back atmosphere, and lively at the same time. Mr. Coach has been to both Disney World and Disneyland multiple times. I’ve experienced Disney World as well as two previous cruises. We’re just Disney people!

Another reason we are A-OK with this cruise line is because we will have this to return to whenever we please:

Private Deck / Royal Suite, Disney Dream

We are more than just a little excited about our suite. It is complete with our own hot tub, and we will be able to slip away to the privacy of our room and deck whenever we’d like. One particular thing we really like about Disney, and this room, is the classic elegance they use to decorate. Judging by this room, you would never guess that the boat is covered with Snow White and Cinderella inspired decor, or that there are Disney characters on every deck. We’re so excited about the contrast between the vintage suite and the Donald Duck pool. We love it all!

So, do you officially think we’re crazy now for choosing this as our honeymoon? Where are you guys going for your honeymoons—anywhere that can compete with the weird looks we get when we tell people about our Disney dream? :)

Sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise, and a Disney one sounds perfect!

I’ve been on two Disney cruises, and while there are some times that Mickey’s a little front and center, it’s still super easy to have a private/adult vacation experience. I’m so jealous!!

That looks like tons of fun! We talked about a cruise, but were concerned that it wouldn’t be private enough, it would appear we were mistaken! Congrats!

This sounds like so much fun! I would love to honeymoon in WDW but we just went a few years ago so FI says no :( I think Disney makes any vacation amazing! I hope you have a great time!

We wish we could do a Disney cruise! I just find that their line is more expensive than others… BUT! We’re already planning our July 2013 Disneymoon to Florida since package rates just came out. We also love the amount of detail that goes into the accommodations and food choices. Your cruise plans sound amazing… maybe we’ll have to really look into trying for a Disney cruise sometime in the future.

I’ve heard AMAZING things about Disney cruises! Mr. Ly really wants to go on one, but we’re thinking of waiting until we have kids – although it looks like it might be more fun without them!

Thanks, everyone! I’m super excited!

@Mrs. Snow Cone: I’m really glad to hear that! My last two Disney cruises were when I was much younger, so I’m excited to cruise again as an “adult” :)

@MissSpark: As far as privacy, I have stayed in rooms on previous cruises that just had their own balcony, and I found that was enough peace and quiet for me. I would spend an hour or two sitting out reading a book, and then I was ready to head back to the main deck for the excitement of being around other people. Given, the honeymoon is a little different ;) but I still think a cruise is a great option!

@nifferehp: Just tell him y’all need to try the Disney cruise now since you already did WDW ;)

@Jamiezilla: Congrats on your Disneymoon in Florida! I highly recommend the cruise if you want to try something different in the future!

@Mrs. Castle: Fun!! We’re going on the Dream! You should DEFINITELY go on a Disney cruise – it’s the same amazing Disney experience, you just get to float around and wake up on new islands every day :)

@Miss Lyre: They have a pretty expansive amount of things directed towards adults (adult only pool, adult only dining, etc.) so I think it’s a great option with or without kids!

That sounds great!! I’ve personally never been on a cruise, but I know many many people who have fabulous things to say about the Disney cruises. (And there are so many kids activities, apparently, that there really aren’t a ton of them running all over all day long?) That suite looks beautiful!!! We went adults only all inclusive, and I am so excited for the food (but really the alcohol lol)
