After a legal ceremony in Germany, we're planning a down-to-earth (semi-destination) wedding with our friends and family in the US.
About Mrs. Bracelet

Since I am an avid stalker of things paper related, I learned early on in wedding planning that a pen with black-light ink is a helpful tool for numbering RSVP cards. (Many people tread this path before me.)

And why is numbering RSVP cards helpful? It helps solve the puzzle of who replied if a guest forgets to write their name on the card. So if you keep a spreadsheet where each invitation has a number and you write those numbers on the corresponding RSVP card, you can track down any guest’s response.

This can be done with any kind of pen, but with normal pens the numbers are visible. That’s what I like about the black-light ink pen. You don’t see the number with the naked eye and maintain the card’s pristine look. When you shine the black light on the area you wrote on, the writing will appear again. You can get one for less than a dollar (sans shipping) on Amazon.

Are you numbering your RSVP cards? What kind of pen do you plan to use?

I used a black light pen too…and then never had to use it. Haha. Everyone on my RSVP list was cool and no one forget their names!

I am using the “invisible pen” trick. We have already had to use it once on a vaguely filled in RSVP card. It is a lifesaver!!

I wanted to use a blacklight pen but didn’t read about it on here until the day before I was going to mail out my invites. I ended up using the crayola markers where they change colors if you use the special “clear” markers that come in the pack. I nuimbered them on the back of the rsvp with the clear marker and if I neede to know what # they were when they were mailed back to me I just used one of the color markers in the corner I wrote in and it showed up. It worked great for me and was cheaper than shipping cost.

I numbered them in teeeeny tiny numbers on the top back corner. Just used a normal pen… but I wish I’d known about this little trick!!! Oh well, too late now!

I used a very light pencil.. and was SO happy when one person out of 200 wrote illegibly and I got to use my numbering system!

Everyone should do some version of this, save yourself the headache of trying to figure out who didn’t label their card! I learned this the hard way :/

I just lightly penciled in the number on the back of the card and yes, it came in handy with a few RSVPs that came in blank or had very messy handwriting on it! :)

This is such a great idea. I had no idea they were so cheap, though I never really looked.

I was VERY close to doing this, but half of my invites have come in already and they are all legible! No problems yet.

I wound up just numbering with a black pen, and figured no one would really mind (or even notice). But all of our RSVPs came back with names, so it wound up not really mattering.
