About Mrs. Gloves

My Bridesladies

July 31st, 2012 @ 3:23 pm by Mrs. Gloves

I could not possibly be more excited about my bridal party. It took me days, laboring over the decision, but exactly two minutes to figure out how the asking was going to go down.

(Sidebar: given the option, I would have included about 12 women in my wedding party. My high school girlfriends and I are still incredibly close, plus the two friends I managed to acquire in college, and the ladies in Mr. G’s set of friends who have so graciously allowed me to infiltrate and befriend them, plus my sisters and G’s sister…it would have been the most amazing collection of women. Alas, the church requests no more than six. And, I mean…that would have been a circus. really.)

Anyway, once I settled on six women (my sisters, G’s sister, and one friend each from high school, college, and post grad, in case you were wondering), I knew that there was going to be a pretty sweet asking situation.

I saw these online, and I wanted to sort of recreate them (for less than the small fortune they presumably spent). I also had this idea in my head that I wanted champagne to be involved (but still not spend a small fortune?—this was the beginning of my self-delusion regarding the wedding), so I decided to hand paint a champagne glass for each girl and include a split of champagne.

I found some wedding cookie cutters at the craft store, so I thought I would bake cookies…but those seemed delicate and breakable (and more than a small pain in the ass), so I decided on Rice Krispies (universal favorite) dipped in chocolate.

I also included a card officially asking each woman to be a part of my wedding party, with a personal note on the inside. Altogether, they looked pretty sweet, I think.

After a slightly dishonest encounter with the US Postal Service (how serious are they when they ask if your package has liquid or breakables in it?) my brideslady packages were on their way, and I was pretty excited to see what the girls thought!

First off.. LOVE that you call them bridesladies, too!!! I feel a little less weird. ;) Second.. these are *such* cute and unique gifts for your ladies – I’m sure they all loved them! I wish I thought to do something creative for mine.. I literally called them the night we got engaged and just blurted out “BE IN MY WEDDING.” Heh. Oh well.

This is such a cute idea, who wouldn’t love some bubbly, chocolate covered rice crispy treats, and nice note :)

These are such a wonderful idea! I’m sure your bridesladies (love this word, btw) had a blast munching on your rice krispy treats, sipping champagne, and reading your lovely note!

I love that you painted the glasses! So cute and original! Apparently, the perishable food thing is to prevent spoilage when leaving packages (so I was told).

I’m glad you all liked them! Something about the term bridesmaids turns me off, so bridesladies it is! And the thing I was most concerned about shipping was definitely the champagne- I had the terrible idea that the USPS was going to call me in a fit of rage to announce that one of the bottles had burst, or something, and I was be sent to jail or lying….a bit far fetched, but I was still convinced it was coming!

I was totally following Bethany’s blog when she posted about those boxes! They immediately went to the top of my to-do list…well, they went to the second spot. The first item was to actually get engaged. But as soon as that technicality was taken care of, I headed off to make boxes for my ladies too!

So cute!

What a lovely DIY job you did! I had never head of these cute ask your bridesmaids gifts before I asked my maids, but I am going to make up for it with the cute thank you gifts I give them!

How lucky are your bridesladies?!! Chocolate and champagne PLUS the honor of being a part of your wedding. What did they think?
