Mrs. Sword's Picture
Mrs. Sword, Chicago Age and Occupation: 28, Nanny/Actress Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Software Engineer Engagement Date: February 19, 2012 Wedding Date: March 2013 Venue: Embassy Suites Bloomington West in Bloomington, MN About Me: I am a true girly-girl originally from the great state of Minnesota and my fiancé hails from the beautiful country of Scotland. We met and fell in love in our favorite city, Chicago, and are having a blast blending our cultures for "A Highland Fairy Tale" wedding! We are truly a case of opposites attract in that he’s a world traveling introvert and I’m a social butterfly who is never too far from home. We both love hanging out with family and friends, fine dining, and laughing at ourselves. He drinks a lot of beer and I talk too much. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
About Mrs. Sword

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that when you Google the words “glass slipper wedding shoes” you are taken to photos like this:

THAT IS A LITTLE GIRL’S SHOE! Once again, I’m reminded of how my wedding theme is similar to that of a six-year-old’s birthday party. Ah, good times. :)

After weeding through shoe companies that play on the “glass slipper” name, pictures of Cinderella shoe favors, Cinderella shoe centerpieces, and children-sized slippers, I wasn’t left with much! Apparently Louboutin designed a shoe to resemble the famous Disney character’s slippers, which is awesome, and it’s a gorgeous shoe but too ornate for me. And too high for a wedding! (Let’s not even get into the price or the fact that you can’t purchase them!)

Now I know I don’t have to have a glass, plastic, or even clear shoe to feel like a princess, but ever since I named all my girls and gave myself the alias of Cinderella I’ve felt compelled to at least try to resemble the famous slippers at much as I can!

So far I’ve been able to find one good replica:

But I’m undecided if I want to take such a specific route. I don’t even know if I think the shoe is that beautiful, to be perfectly honest! It’s simple (which I LOVE), but is it enough for a wedding-day outfit?

I think I might visit a traditional bridal shoe salon or browse a few boutiques to see what else is out there before I make any more rash decisions and start Googling “fairy godmothers” and “pumpkins that turn into carriages”!

Are you really opinionated about your bridal shoe? Or have you barely started looking like me? What do you think of my glass slipper idea??

What about a shoe covered in glass looking rhinestones? Like the rhinestones that you can kind of see yourself in?

I can totally relate! I’ve scouted the internet in search of the perfect glass (vinyl) slipper/pump. I had the best luck on amazon, I suggest reading the reviews though.
There was one pair where the nails in the heels wee visible.

Seeing as how they’re made from PVC, those shoes would make your feet so hot and sweaty! I think you should keep looking.

I love the concept but those shoes look super uncomfortable. I would try to go a different route. Good luck with the search.

I agree, I had a pair of shoes like this once for a High school dance and my feet were a mess after an hour cause it was so hot and when your skins pressed in they dont have that elegant look they look all red and white and orange and HOTTT, I agree you should look at the ones that are covered in rhine stones that then have the appearance of glass but a better feel and your feet can BREATHE in!!!

You know, I don’t think you have to wear glass slippers to look like Cinderella on your wedding day. Those shoes are ok, but I think you could find something much more elegant – and maybe more comfy! :) I think the most princessy option would be to channel Cinderella in your decision, but find an elegant pair of heels that have a little bit of “something extra” (maybe pearls or shimmer? I’m thinking something like the Jimmy Choo silver pumps that are super popular).

I wanted my shoe to be flat (or a very low heel). I wanted it to be blue (royal/cobalt) OR ivory if I couldn’t find blue. It had to be sparkly. It had to be comfy. It had to be affordable.

…I had high hopes and eventually after shedding a lot of tears and being completely frustrated about not finding my shoe….I found it.

Keep looking until you love something. I firmly believe that when you find the shoe you know it’s the one…kinda like with the dress. <3

What if you just did the princess’ “color”?? For example, for your “Belle” you can have her wear yellow shoes. and for “Cinderella”, wear sparkly periwinkle shoes…. that would still be super cute and still fit into the theme! :) Good Luck girl!

I think it might be a bit on-the-nose to have a clear shoe. What about something sparkly instead?

I love the idea, but I agree with the other ladies, they look like they would be super uncomfortable and hot. I vote sparkly shoes too!

I wore Cinderella type shoes for a show once. They looked like those but a bit taller. They were really uncomfortable and made
My feet sweaty and smelly. I agree with most that maybe a sparkly shoe would be better. PS my favorite princess is Snow White and to incorporate that into our day I used a quote from “Someday my Prince will Come,” in our guest book. There are tons of other ways you can use Cinderella on your big day. For a period of time our first dance song was going to be “So this is love” :)

google the shoe from the cinderella-based movie “ever after”! glass heel but the rest is beaded/silvery/sparkly. Could use that as your inspiration?

Someone was selling blinged out shoes in the classifieds. I saw them yesterday.

@September29: @September29: LOL. I know this is totally off topic but September 29 made me laugh out loud. In college there was a theme party (Gangsters and Strippers) and I did not want to dress up as a stripper so I went in normal modest party clothes. When asked I said I was “a modest stripper” so that comment just took me back.

What size shoe do you wear? I might have some glass-slipper looking shoes that you could have (if I do, they look similar to your last picture, but no butterfly), but I wear a size 7.5-8. :)

I like your replica Cinderella shoes, if you think they are too much for a wedding, you could just get some fun pics with them.

Check these out- search Steve Madden Swirly flat; This is what I’m wearing for my wedding (have to wear flats) and they may not be dressy enough for what you’re going for but they totally look like sparkly glass slippers on. Maybe even as just a reception shoe?

I think something sparkly or beaded would be perfect!
