Mrs. Cauldron's Picture
Miss Cauldron, New York City/Austin Age and Occupation: 33, Human Resources Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Technology Engagement Date: October 8, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2012 Venue: Pecan Grove at the Salt Lick About Me: I grew up in the Lone Star State, but moved to NYC after college to get a taste of the Big Apple, and never left. I love baking, yoga, Mr. C, and sunshine (not necessarily in that order)! Mr. C and I met on Match.com back in 2007, and our second date was at a Texas barbecue restaurant in Manhattan. It’s only fitting that after almost five years together, we are getting married at an iconic Texas barbecue joint. (Shiner Bock and brisket, anyone?) I’m proud of the life we have built together around our love for each other, Mr. C’s crazy dog Bosley, and fun sailing adventures on our boat, and I’m looking forward to celebrating our marriage at one seriously awesome party in September.

Man’s Best Friend?

August 20th, 2012 @ 6:52 am by Mrs. Cauldron

Mr. C has been relentlessly teasing me since last fall about how he realllllly wants Bosley to be the ring bearer at our wedding.

The teasing drives me crazy, as he’s kind of half-serious. But I just can’t see myself managing to deal with the dog on our wedding day, to be completely honest. Just one more thing to worry about. Bosley might be Mr. C’s best friend, but I had to put my foot down—no doggie ring bearers. Or random aisle-walking dogs:

Bosley will be chilling at the Stay n’ Play for the weekend back home instead. He will be coming with us on the honeymoon, though!

Hi! I’m cute and I love to sail!

What do you think about involving pets in the wedding? Is your canine companion going to trot down the aisle with your rings? Or accompany you as you walk toward your future spouse?

I’m with you on this one Miss C! I just made arrangements for our doggie to stay and play during the wedding weekend. She’s a jumper, and I could totally see her jumping on me and tearing my dress. Yikes!!

Nope, not in the wedding, but in our engagement pictures and on our save-the-dates. :)

Baxter, my golden retriever, is a huge part of our lives and we incorporated him into our wedding.

We had five ring bearers (4 human, 1 canine) and the two oldest nephews led him down the aisle. Baxter saw Mr. Mink and wanted to go to him the shortest way possible, which didn’t include the aisle, so when the boys wrangled him to the right position, the crowd applauded. I didn’t get to see it, but it was apparently really cute. :)

If he was high strung, I wouldn’t have had him there, but he’s used to being in crowds and was very chill.

We wound up hiring a girl from an errand service to bring him to the venue and take him him after the ceremony so we didn’t have to worry about him.

I would have totally had my dogs in the wedding if we hadn’t eloped.

We had our dogs at the wedding as ring bearer and flower dog. But, we also knew they would both be well behaved. Having our dog as ring bearer was one of the 2 requests that my hubby had and we had an awesome venue that was pet friendly.

I completely understand not wanting to have Bosley there if he’s a jumper.

We really wanted to have pictures with our dog on our wedding day. However, this weekend we decided it just wasn’t going to happen. She is a rescue dog and is both claustrophobic and scared of large crowds and strangers. Even with having just us and the photographer around, I think she would freak out and I just don’t want to get her upset so we have a cute picture. So she’ll be at the boarders, or what we refer to as “puppy jail” for a few days.
We thinking of having my mom, who the dog adores, take some pictures the day after.

We would LOVE to have my family’s little doggy, my beloved Rocky, be our ring bearer in our wedding in his cute little tux, BUT he would be barking at everyone and just freaking out. So sadly, there’s no way we can include him :( Wedding photos with pets involved are always awesome!

Both FI and I love our dog but he won’t be anywhere near the wedding festivities. He’s very excitable and loves people so being around that many would be a nightmare.

We’re having our 2 Siberian Huskies walk down the aisle with Fiance’s 2 daughters. In order to minimize the stress/planning/logistics for me, we hired a dog-sitter to bring them to the venue before the ceremony, stay and help out (if needed) and then take them home after pictures are done (before the reception starts). Our dogs are very well socialized and they are great with large groups of people. They are our Honorary Ring Bearers!

We would LOVE to have our Golden mix there – he loves a crowd! Unfortunately the beach home where we’re getting married doesn’t allow pets.

We considered some on the beach shots pics and having him stay with another friend, but with everything else going on didn’t want to worry about it. But it was a hard decision! I wish we had engagement pictures taken with him!

My mom and sister keep talking about getting a dress custom made for our little doggy, she’s well behaved and sweet, but I’m not sure I’m ok with her joining the festivities, cause she needs constant attention and there’s the issue of taking her back home (20min away from the venue) or keeping her there till the reception’s over and I don’t want her running around during the reception. If it were just the ceremony I’ll be ok with it, but I can’t seem a way to include her, so she’d be just another guest.

If we hadn’t been married in a church, our dog, Wrigley, would have def been a part of our ceremony. Like Mink, our dog is a huge part of our lives. I like the idea of hiring a trusted person to take care of them for you so you don’t have to worry.

Our black lab is a HUGE part of our lives…we treat him like our child :) He was involved in the proposal, he was included in the engagement pictures, and he is going to walk down the aisle during my wedding as my ring bearer :) Couldn’t imagine my big day without my baby

Our dog was the dog of honor…and it was perfect. Our venue was really laid back however, so we didn’t have to worry about what he would do afterwards, because he got to run around in the snow and play :) You can represent Bosley in another way!

I love weddings that involve dogs, but I totally understand not wanting to deal with the hassle!

Have you read Mrs. Elk’s post about including her pet in their wedding? http://www.weddingbee.com/2012/01/12/the-poochasaur-part-two/ We’re using it for our kitties :)

I would LOVE to have my 2 Chihuahuas in the wedding if we weren’t getting married in a church. Instead, I’ll have to be satisfied with having a photoshoot with them at the hotel.

I love all the opinions! Bosley is a very good dog and not a jumper, but the long distance makes it a pretty tough ask. So, he’ll just get to celebrate the honeymoon with us!

I love that some people involve their pets in their wedding as they see them as part of their family. I am firmly in the camp that it depends on the pet though! I like that your gorgeous dog will be going on your sailing honeymoon with you!
