Pinch Me

With the wedding date fast approaching, I’ve been having quite a few wedding-related nightmares. I’m really not surprised at all; I always dream very vividly, so it makes sense that the stress of wedding planning has started influencing my dreams. I’ve woken up in a cold sweat on more than one occasion, shouting things like “OHMYGAWD THE RABBI GOT LOST!”

I know wedding nightmares are fairly common, but I figured you’d get a kick out of hearing what exactly is going on in my crazy head.

Dream One:

I’m in my wedding dress, getting ready to leave the house with my mother. We’re excitedly packing up a few last-minute items, when a police cruiser pulls up in front of our house, lights flashing. The officer looks very grim indeed as he comes walking down our driveway, and I get a horrible feeling that this has something to do with me.

Sure enough, the officer cuffs me. “Ma’am, I’m afraid you’re under arrest.”

At this point, my mother is freaking out. “She’s going to her WEDDING, you idiot. Can’t you see she’s wearing a wedding dress???”

For whatever reason, I’m still calm and rational enough to ask the officer why he’s arresting me. And here’s where it gets a little ridiculous.

“You’re under arrest for failure to return a movie rental to Blockbuster. The movie in question is entitled Made of Honor.”

Cue instant panic. “But that was months ago!!! I tried to return it, but Blockbuster went out of business!! It wasn’t even a good movie. It’s not like I WANTED to keep it. You can’t arrest me for that. I’m getting MARRIED! Today! You can’t arrest me! There’s not even a Blockbuster for me to return the movie to!!!”

The officer is deaf to my pleas and shoves me in the back of the police cruiser. And I wake up.

Dream Two:

I’m in my wedding dress, again. Mr. Unicorn and I are getting ready to walk down the aisle together, and I peek out the window at the guests being seated.

Out of the blue, some random chick appears. Mr. Unicorn chooses this moment to confess that he’s not going to marry me after all. I feel like I’ve just been punched in the stomach. I plead with him, ask him why, and threaten to kill the random chick where she stands before finally realizing that Mr. Unicorn is not going to budge on this. I look through the window again, and I see that everyone is waiting for us to make our grand entrance.

I decide that I have only one option. The show must go on. I need a replacement groom. One quick phone call, and my friend Rob appears out of nowhere. I try to squeeze him into Mr. Unicorn’s wedding outfit. I say “squeeze” because Rob is a foot and a half taller than Mr. Unicorn and twice as wide. Finally, I give up. We end up walking down the aisle together, but he’s completely naked except for a navy bow tie and a boutonniere. Needless to say, our guests are utterly shocked. And I wake up.

Dream Three:

I’m in my wedding dress, again. This time, I know that all the guests have made it to the venue, and they are just waiting on me; I had to run some last-minute errand or something before the wedding.

I grab my bouquet and start walking to the venue. It’s not long, however, before I realize that I’m totally lost. I have no idea where I’m going, but I keep walking, hoping that I stumble into the venue by accident. I start panicking, knowing full well that everyone else is already at the venue. Just when I start to REALLY panic, I wake up.

How about you, hive? Have you had any wedding nightmares? Do you think they mean anything, or is it just an overactive mind dealing with pre-wedding stress?

My wedding is a little over 3 weeks away and I’ve been having wedding related dreams nightly, some nightmares and some just completely riduclous.

The most frequent one, which is also the most terrifying one so far, is me showing up to get dressed right before the ceremony only to realize that I forgot to go to my make up and hair appointments…it’s as though I had forgotten that it was the day of the wedding…I chose to run other errands instead!

I will be relieved when all of these stop, they are putting me in a constant state of panic throughout the day.

Enjoy your wedding and I hope you’re able to get some sleep as the day draws closer!

My wedding is not until June, but I’ve already had many wedding nightmares.

This morning, I had one where I went to the store to pick up my wedding dress, and it had been turned into a furniture store.

I’ve had several dreams where I show up for my wedding but don’t have a wedding dress.

Then one where my sister chose the same wedding date, so we’re fighting over who gets married in the morning and who gets married in the evening!

My wedding is almost EIGHT MONTHS away and I’m having dreams about it. Mine aren’t funny though–just upsetting.
The worst one was when I dreamed that we were just having a party at our apartment when my dad started playing the piano (we don’t have a piano) and everyone started starting at me. Then I realized I was supposed to walk down the “aisle” of our living room toward my fiance, so I did, but I was crying the whole time because my dad wasn’t walking with me (still at the piano) and when I got to my fiance, he was like “hey it’s okay, we’ll start over” and I was all “no our wedding is ruined” and I couldn’t stop crying the whole time.
So yeah. Get some sleep and try not to cry through your wedding–or if you do, I hope they’re good tears!

I hato thse panicky dreams, I’ve had a couple, not as weird as yours. Both about a super casual undone party instead of the wedding we’re planning, things not comming together, me not wearing a wedding dress, I was even pregnant in one, I think that was the reason why we had that casual party cause it was all rushed.
We’re still 4 months away, I’m scared of what my brain will come up with when closer to the big day.

Lots of dreams where no one shows up, or we have to reschedule our wedding for “tomorrow” and we need to call all the vendors and guests to tell them..

I had a dream that my seamstress lost my crinoline (I don’t know how since it’s attached to the dress) and she went out to buy a new one. The new one was much too wide and you could see up to my ankles. And it swayed like a giant bell!

I think that dream comes from my cousin’s quinceanera back in the early 90s (I don’t remember but I see the pics) where her dress was almost as wide as her height, her dress was pepto pink and had giant puffy sleeves. It was what she wanted but decades later it just looks dated and bad. I don’t want that big dress !!!!

I had a dream that we showed up to the venue on the day-of and no one was there because we forgot to send out invitations.

The weirdest one I had was that my mom was doing the ceremony instead of Mr. D’s dad, our actual ordained officiant (my mom being the least flowery, ceremonious and/or religious person I know!).

Oh man I had lots of nightmares… also about things like Mr. FC seeing me in my dress before the ceremony. Stuff like that. I hope yours don’t continue after the wedding like mine did!!!

Since you wrote them out, they can’t come true! :)

I had one last night that it was 2 days before the wedding and we didn’t have programs or a seating chart, so no one knew what was going on. Chaos is a common theme in my wedding nightmares.

I had lots of dreams about things not being done/ready come wedding day, which was not too far from the truth. Hopefully yours are so crazy that they can’t come true :)

I had my first nighmare where I was getting ready to get dress for the wedding and some chick had my dress on and ripped it. I thought I was the only one with this type of dream. Now I know this happens I feel better.

I have had a few already, the one that sticks with me most was when my ex best friend showed up but wouldn’t talk to me so I followed her out in to an alley behind the venue to make her talk to me ( all tis in my dress of course) and then a homeless person comes by looking for money. When I tell him I don’t have any he tries to stab me but I take the shiv type knife from him and start going at him and stab him! Then I go back in for the wedding and everyone is standing around the ceremony area talking to eachother and won’t sit down for my entrance. Then I notice that my FI isn’t wearing im kilt but horrible kilt pants! I run down the aisle trying to get peoples attention but nothing works. I wake up.

Not kidding – I did not have ANY pre-wedding wedding dreams.

They say when you’re pregnant you have weird pregnant dreams – mine are weird, alright…now, eight months pregnant and married over a year, I am having the odd wedding dreams that I didn’t have before our wedding!!! (And it’s classic stuff like people not showing up or me wearing jeans instead of my dress, LOL!)

While I know it’s a nightmare, Dream 1 makes me laugh! I had a couple of huge breakdown nightmares a few months before the wedding that really freaked me out and had me believing we got married in some horrible way. It will pass, and they will not come true!

Aww I have had a couple of wedding related nightmares but that was only when I was super stressed! Stress does crazy things to a person!
