I love baking, yoga, Mr. C, and sunshine (not necessarily in that order)! Mr. C and I met on Match.com back in 2007, and our second date was at a Texas barbecue restaurant in Manhattan. It’s only fitting that after almost five years together, we are getting married at an iconic Texas barbecue joint. (Shiner Bock and brisket, anyone?) I’m proud of the life we have built together around our love for each other, Mr. C’s crazy dog Bosley, and fun sailing adventures on our boat, and I’m looking forward to celebrating our marriage at one seriously awesome party in September.

Predicting Our Numbers

August 23rd, 2012 @ 6:52 am by Mrs. Cauldron

Our invitations have been out for some time now, and we’ve been raking in the responses.

Predicting Our Numbers : wedding austin invitations rsvp stationery IMAG02603 IMAG02603

 A precarious stack of RSVPs

It’s been so fun to get all the little envelopes in the mail! We’ve also discovered we were pretty good at predicting the responses, at least so far.

This is what we thought would happen when we sent out our invitations:

  • We sent out 125 invitations, inviting a total of 252 people.
  • We expected about 80 people would “definitely” be there, about 110 were “possibles,” and the rest were unlikely to attend. It’s a destination wedding, pretty much, so there are a lot of folks who won’t make it.
  • We figured we’d be slightly off on our predictions on the “possibles”—potential childcare issues, pregnancy announcements, cost-prohibitive travel, conflicting events, or other circumstances might prevent their attendance—so we estimated that, in the end, we would wind up with somewhere around 150 guests.

So far, this is what we’ve seen:

  • We’ve received 69 out of 125 responses (at the time of this writing, we have three weeks left until our RSVP deadline).
  • Those 69 responses include 24 nos (48 guests) and 45 yeses (83 guests). Four of the nos were originally on the “possibles” list, but the other 20 nos were on the “unlikely” list. Everyone in the 45 yeses was originally a “definitely” or a “possible.”
  • We are still missing responses at the moment from about 20 guests we know are attending (they have booked flights and/or hotels, but haven’t sent their cards in).
  • About 25 of the guests who haven’t yet responded were on our original “unlikely to attend” list.
  • The rest (about 70 guests) are all wildcards. I’m guessing about half will accept.

It still seems like we’re pretty much on track for our target guest list of 150…it just depends on how many of those wildcards decide to come to the party. Could be fewer, if I had to guess? I’ll definitely let y’all know where we wind up once all the RSVPs are in. For right now, though, all I can think is “Eighty-three people are going to come see us get married!” It’s pretty cool to see things start to come together.

How many people did you invite? Did your response rate turn out the way you predicted?

We sent out about 100 invites and got back about a 50% declines but this is what we were expecting. We wanted to invite a lot of OOT and out of country folks and so we sent out our invites early hoping they would be able to make room in their budget for us or give us a no right away. Also, most of my FIs immediate family live in Israel and are not coming because of the cost and because they don’t agree with the marriage. :( But we wanted to be the bigger people and invite them anyway.

My fiance’ thinks I’m crazy, because I told him that the thing I’m looking forward to (other than marrying him, obviously!) is seeing those RSVPs start rolling in once the invitations go out, and we can start to see our guest list come together and see who will be there for our day. It’s exciting to see everything finally fall into place!

Our predictions have been pretty accurate as well and we’re totally saying the same thing each night, “114 people are coming to see us get married! woo!” :)

Our predictions were pretty accurate, but there were a few surprises in our bunch! It’s so fun getting all those rsvps in the mail!

We are sending out 90 invitations with a 150 person guest list. I am hoping that at least 20 decline which puts us back in our 130 guest range. We decided not to waste money sending invites to people we know won’t come. Invites are freaking expensive to just waste them.

We haven’t send invites yet, but being honest we expect about an 85% Acceptance rate, let’s see how it turns out.

We’ve had a surprising amount of people say no! And a surprising amount of people yet to send back their RSVP cards.

We started with a guest list of over 400! We widdled it down to about 350 and 140 came. I think the turnout was exactly what I planned on. We had a semi-destination wedding so everyone had to travel to get there, so I wasn’t surprised at the lower than average Yes response rate.

A lot of our guests have to travel too, we hit 150 almost on the dot (which we wanted) and we invited about 200

Aww thats cool that you had divided your guests into groups! We have people in mind that we don’t think will come but haven’t really tallied how many!
