About Beehive

Hey there, hive! We are sooo excited to tell all of you brides- and grooms-to-be about this resource that is going to make registering a breeze: Wedding Republic is an online wedding registry tool that allows you to completely customize the gifts you wish to receive. The perfect honeymoon, a down payment on your dream home, more traditional items to fill your new pad…your registry is only limited by your own imagination!

Why choose Wedding Republic?

  • It’s meaningful. Your registry is more than just a gift list. It’s a way to tell your guests how you plan to live your lives and make them feel as though they are part of the big picture. Whether it’s your house down payment, honeymoon, or your favorite charity, it’s meaningful and fun.
  • They want to help you. Your own personal wedding registry consultant is always available to help address any questions or concerns you might have about setting up your registry, wedding registry etiquette, or anything else!
  • You can focus on the big picture. With Wedding Republic you can register for exactly what you need to build your life together with your new spouse.

Benefits for the couple:

  • Get cash, without asking for cash. And while the “cash is taboo” mantra is quickly fading and giving cash gifts is more popular than ever, asking can still be a little awkward.
  • Keep it personal with gifts you really need instead of cookie cutter registry items that may never get actual use. You can register for experiences instead of stuff.
  • Customize your wish list with gorgeous images, or scan through our gift suggestions to give you a head start. One couple even used Wedding Republic to set up a honeymoon registry and shared their entire itinerary with their guests!
  • Flexibility! You registered for an espresso machine but ended up deciding you didn’t need it. With Wedding Republic, you don’t have to worry about return policies because you got cash. Instead, why not rent cross country skis for the day?

Register for What You REALLY Want with Wedding Republic : wedding registry Wedding Gift Puzzle Piece

Benefits for the guest:

  • Easy and convenient shopping!
  • No need to worry about being the last to get to the registry and be stuck purchasing the salad spoons when you really wanted to get something more meaningful.
  • Contribute toward bigger picture gifts. Couples aren’t expecting guests to foot the entire bill for their home renovations. However, if that’s what guests want to contribute toward, Wedding Republic makes it easy by allowing them to pay for a smaller portion with our puzzle piece feature.

Registering with Wedding Republic is free and easy. You can get started right now, or check out their website to see what other couples are saying about them. You can also check out Wedding Republic on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Have fun, bees!

pretty cool idea – honey fund without the honeymoon part of it!

I think it’s tacky to ask for guests to help with a down payment on your home. If you’re not financially sound enough to save for a 20% down payment on your own (this is what Suze Orman recommends), you shouldn’t be asking others to help you with your highly likely housing demise. This is what got America in trouble in the first place…people biting off more than they can chew and expecting others to come to their rescue when it was their wrong-doing in the first place.

@guest: I def. see what you’re saying, and around here I guess people are still not completely comfortable w “cash” type registries…but I think it’s going to be more common in the upcoming years…just a guess. To me I guess registering for china or crystal bowls if you just KINDA want them is sorta pointless too. But I come from a culture where cash is a normal gift, so this seems like just a new higher tech way to register for “cash” but give guests a tangible “tie” to what it’s going to buy you.

I don’t think it’s tacky at all. I think the entire point of a wedding registry is to ask for things you want so your guests who choose to use them have suggestions of what to get you. It’s not like you’d necessarily be getting into debt without help with the down payment; maybe you would have to postpone getting a house, have more money to spend on other things, etc. But if my guests did think it was tacky, then they are adults who can choose not to get it for me: I actually think this type of registry is really cool!

@guest:
It’s not necessarily to help fund the entire down payment, it’s just a little extra help! Most couples choose to break up that gift into smaller amounts of $50 each!
