Mrs. Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

A Foxy Fête: It’s Wedding Week!

September 4th, 2012 @ 10:30 am by Mrs. Fox

In other words…recap time! Huzzah!

I figure it’s best to cover all the good stuff first, before all the really good stuff—especially since the week before the wedding was one heck of a whirlwind. To save us both some time (not really), I’ve decided to use some bullet point action for the highlights. Here goes!

-My grandpa on my dad’s side passed away seven days before the wedding (obviously not a highlight, but it very much impacted me and shaped my life in the week following). Moods were low and I was I was in a bit of a funk, just trying to keep myself busy with wedding preparations and the like—to just keep trucking along, you know?

Fortunately, by midweek, things had started to smooth out ever so slightly and pick up pace. My grandpa’s funeral had been set for the week after our wedding, and I think our whole family was just happy to find something to celebrate during such a hard time. Onward and upward, we went.

-I hung out with my lady love, HK, a whole lot—we took our pups for a hike, went to the Dupont Circle public pool (surprisingly not gross, btw), and she even gave me a massage a few days before the wedding (a perk of having friends in the field)!

-Much to my dismay, however, I started to come down with a cold mid-week. I’m guessing it was the combination of emotional stress, wedding stress and not sleeping…hmm, ya think? So I popped vitamin C like it was my job and drank my weight in tea. I also kind of freaked out and convinced myself I was on the verge of getting a cold sore (again), thus causing me to call my doctor in quite the frenzy because I was out of my cold sore meds. I think I may have exaggerated the situation juuuust a bit, because when I went to the pharmacy later that day to pick up my refill, this is what I got:

That’s, like, enough Valtrex for years. (Also…I wasn’t getting a cold sore. It never came. But I also may have taken my meds every day anyway, just in case.) (PS. Don’t do that unless your doctor tells you to. PSA over.)

-Come late Wednesday evening, Foxy and I realized that we should probably get our little butts in gear and start packing up the wedding room for the weekend ahead of us—a task that didn’t take quite as long as I had originally anticipated, but left me feeling incredibly scatterbrained. I mean, this was two+ years of wedding crafts and purchases that needed to be smushed into a car or two for oh, only one of the most important days of our lives. No pressure.

Lord help me.

-On Thursday, I needed a bit of reprieve from the packing insanity and went out to get my nails done with officiant Em.

Oh, how I love massage chairs!

And yes, you can still see my tan burn lines.

Come to think of it, I never even mentioned what I decided on for nail color, did I? Welp, I’ll save you the long version and just go ahead and tell you: a darker red shellac on my nails (which are incredibly short thanks to work, gah), and a beyond gorgeous coral color on my toes. Darker on my fingers because that’s how I roll, and coral on my toes because I’m obsessed with the color and it fit in with our color scheme!

-After nails, Em and I got lunch. I also got a text from Foxy explaining that a certain friend/exgroomsman-turned-ceremony-reader would not, in fact, be coming to the wedding after all, as his grandmother passed away the day before. To be completely honest, I really did understand, but the brat in me was a bit annoyed. I mean, it was two days before the wedding, he was supposed to do a reading (and the ceremony program reflected that) and we already paid for his plane ticket and his room for the weekend. Foxy managed to calm my crazy bride ass down—if he was ok, I was ok, you know? I was mostly just sad that said friend wouldn’t be able to be there for him at our wedding. But hey…c’est la vie. We all worked it out.

-Thankfully, Thursday got better as the day progressed when MOH Copper showed up later that evening—it was the eve of wedding eve, and we had projects to finish, things to pack and life to catch up on before the craziness of the weekend officially started!

Well, more or less. We really just ended up drinking wine, making mustaches on a stick, playing with my bachelorette veil, and being general weirdos, per usual.

Soon enough, it was time to hit the hay…we had some travel and a big day ahead of us!
