The Bunting Bash: Making a Mini Escape

September 20th, 2012 @ 11:38 am by Mrs. Bunting

Our carriage rental included a private ride that, before the wedding, I wasn’t entirely sure if we would have time for or not. I wasn’t too worried since we could always redeem it after our big day, but once we were in the moment we wanted to take it right then. We knew our guests would be entertained in the meantime by the beauty of the park and the dessert table and refreshments we had set up for them to enjoy. And having had our family and formal photographs taken before the ceremony certainly meant we had nowhere to be immediately following our recessional.

“Do we have time for the ride?’

“Yes, yes we do.”

“See you all again soon!”

I don’t have any photographs to show you of our private and scenic carriage ride since it was just the horse, the carriage, our drivers, the two of us, and the road, but I can at least tell you it was amazing and relaxing and wonderful. We made a large circle around the area, and every single car that passed us waved and grinned and congratulated us. One vehicle even slowed and asked if they could take our picture, and there were several little girls in the nearby houses that came out to wave as we strolled past. I do have one regret…an ice cream truck passed us and we did not flag him down. Neither Mr. Bunting nor I had any money on us, but I’m pretty sure he would have given us a treat nonetheless. OK, I’m making assumptions, but in my mind we almost had free ice cream with our wedding carriage.

When we returned to the park after our little ride, we paused in the parking lot for some more photos.

Daddy Bunting had left his cowboy hat in the carriage after he removed it to walk me down the aisle, so Mr. Bunting took the opportunity to put it on. We joked that Daddy Bunting would be amused, and sure enough, the first thing he says is, “Aw, man, you take my daughter and now you’re taking my hat!”

When we rounded the corner to the pavilion, I was surprised to be welcomed with more applause and cheers from our lingering guests.

We mingled and chatted for a while until more and more people left the park to head to the reception hall downtown.

I’m sure you’re dying to see how our dessert table turned out, so don’t worry—the next post will be all the lovely details! And boy are they delicious.

It must’ve been so nice to have some alone time after the ceremony.

I totally love that you guys had a carriage ride!! It’s great that you were able to make use of it when you did – one thing I regret is not having much “alone” time with Foxy – this would have been a nice reprieve from the reception insanity, I’m sure! Plus.. you got some awesome pictures from it, too. =D

What a nice touch.

I LOVE Carriage / Caleche Rides… they truly are very romantic.

And it is indeed nice to get a bit of “private time” as a couple after the “I DOs

I am seriously considering renting a “vintage car”… as a surprise to Mr TTR (he is a car nut) so we can go for a drive and enjoy some bubbly after our Elopement Ceremony & taking Pictures on the Beach… before heading off to our special “Newlywed’s Dinner” overlooking the ocean.

Aw, how nice to have a few minutes alone together to relax after the ceremony! And of course, can’t wait to see the desserts, ’cause I’m predictable. :)

I’m so glad you had that ride to spend some alone time together! That’s so special! I also think the ice cream man would have given you free ice cream ;)

@Miss Treasure: It was so wonderful! I’m really glad we were able to do it.

@Mrs. Fox: That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind when we made the split decision, but I’m so very glad we had our ride for that exact reason! Aside from our first look and formal photos, we never had another opportunity to have time alone together, so the carriage ride was especially blissful.

@This Time Round: That sounds like a wonderful idea, you should do it! I bet it would be a wonderful surprise for him!

@Mrs. Hyena: :D

@Mrs. Marmalade: So, so fun!

@Jacofblues: Thank you! I hope everyone can forgive me for the delay between my posts.

@Mrs. Castle: Haha, glad you think so, too!

This looks fabulous! I also love the shots of the guests post-ceremony/pre-reception. I loved that Mr. Bunting put on Daddy Bunting’s hat! So funny.

Oh my gosh so sweet. One of my favorite parts of the day was having 5 minutes totally alone with Mr. Coyote… I’m glad you guys were able to have that time alone!

Your dad’s line has me rolling with laughter! Your carriage ride and almost-ice-cream delights the 5 year old in me. :)
