Mrs. Armadillo's Picture
Mrs. Armadillo, Houston, Texas Age and Occupation: 23, Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Armed Security Officer Engagement Date: September 28, 2011 Wedding Date: March 2013 Venue: First Presbyterian Church/Bay City Civic Center About Me: I’m an oldies-loving, board game-playing, coffee addicted fine arts junkie from Southeast Texas in pursuit of her master’s degree in communication studies who met the goofy, strong, artistic, and unexpected love of her life in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas. Serendipity threw us together again and again (and again) on our college campus before we eventually stuck, but when we finally did submit to destiny, we hit the ground running and never looked back! We’re planning a religious, small town, budget-friendly, DIY-infused “winter becomes springtime” ceremony and reception to celebrate the beginning of our lives together with the people we love the most, and are pouring our hearts and souls into making sure our wedding represents us as a couple down to the nitty gritty details and balances tradition with the quirky individuality that is uniquely and unequivocally “us”!
About Mrs. Armadillo

From the very get-go of wedding planning I was drawn to a romantic, vintage garden type theme where DIY details could really stand out and make an impact. Obviously, natural colors like mossy greens and creamy beiges would work well with that kind of concept, but I was really kind of at a loss as to what other colors would meld well with the natural tones I had dreamed up. I wanted a bright pop of color that would be reminiscent of springtime and flowers and that would balance the more neutral shades that were quickly becoming cemented in my mind. After a few weeks of looking at inspiration pictures and sitting down with Mr. A to consider our color scheme for the big day, I think I’ve narrowed it down to a palette of colors that enhance the garden theme while keeping it sophisticated.

And so, without further ado, I present to you our wedding color palette!

I’m thinking light and airy, with lots of natural textures like moss and burlap, and accents of lace and other pretty things. I can see the guys in snazzy tan suits and the ladies in bright fuchsia dresses. And I totally dig the votive candles in Mason jars look. Tres chic. I just hope we stick with the original concept and don’t deviate too much from the plan as the months go by!

What’s your wedding color palette look like?

I love your color scheme and inspiration. We are having the mason jars with floating candles in them as our centerpieces … what would I do without Pinterest?!? The burlap will look great with your colors too. We have a navy blue, pink, and cream color scheme. My girls were super excited that they can wear hot pink shoes – I figured it would be a nice pop of color against the pale pink of their flowers.

I really like it, the fucsia will give a very nice pop of color. They do spell spring.

@JTT: Hot pink shoes=LOVE! Your bridesmaids are gonna be some foxy ladies! ;)
@jkingsqueen: That sounds so pretty! Teal is my absolute favorite color, so I KNOW it’ll look beautiful, especially for a September wedding!
@Mrs. Wizard: I totally want bright fun flowers, so it’s definitely part of the driving force behind our color scheme!
