Mrs. Buffalo's Picture
Mrs. Buffalo, San Diego, CA Age and Occupation: 26, Treasury Services Representative Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: July 28, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2012 Venue: Bailey's Palomar Resort About Me: I’m a So Cal girl who doesn’t like the ocean (or sand) and would much rather be out in the country. I’m a Gleek and a Twi-hard, I enjoy baking, reading, watching old movies, and listening to country music. We both love football season, and thankfully our two favorite teams are in different conferences (and therefore rarely play each other). He’s a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan, and I love the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (and YES, we’re both born and raised San Diegans). He’s my best friend, and I can’t wait to begin the journey of our lifetime together.
About Mrs. Buffalo

Picking my bridal party in many ways was easy. I always knew S would again be my maid of honor. She was the first person I called, and I don’t know how she was able to make out my squealing request! It was difficult for me to breathe, let alone ask her a question (or wait for her answer)! I saw Bridesmaid K a few days later, and even though I was dying to ask her to be a bridesmaid and her son little K (one of my two favorite little guys) to be the ring bearer, Mr. B claimed that even though he had completely decided who would be his groomsmen, K’s hubby and his brother included, he claimed he wasn’t prepared to ask them. So I planned on waiting and planning an awesome way to ask. Until we were celebrating at their house and he just blurted out that he wanted them to be groomsmen. So much for creative planning. They all happily accepted, and now there were only two left to ask. I quickly planned a lunch with my two best friends from high school. I honestly couldn’t believe how nervous I was! But luckily they happily agreed, and my bridal party was set!

Now that I’m far along in the planning process and I’m working on putting together bridesmaid gifts, I’ve found so many cute cards and gifts for asking someone to be a bridesmaid, and I wish my impatience had not gotten the best of me! I would love to have given my bridesmaids something like this:

With the Right Guy, You Still Need Your Girls! : wedding bridesmaid diy san diego Il 570x042 Set of 2 - Peel-and-Stick - Will you be my Bridesmaid and Maid of Honor - WINE or champagne BOTTLE LABELS - Printed & Shipped

Or a card like this:

With the Right Guy, You Still Need Your Girls! : wedding bridesmaid diy san diego Il 570x043 Will you be my Bridesmaid Cards (Need My Girls) - Set of 3

Was there anything that you wished you could have done but didn’t have enough time (or couldn’t wait long enough) to do?

I was too impatient so I asked my ladies right away. I was nervous even though I knew they would say yes because we’ve had this conversation over and over when talking about weddings. My FI STILL hasn’t asked his men even though we’ve been engaged for 6 months! He wants to do it in a special way and is taking his sweet time. I think two of them know what their roles are going to be because the 3 of them have been BFF for over 10 years.

I never even asked my sister because it was just implied our whole lives that we’d be each other’s MOHs, lol. My best friend knew that she was probably a BM, and I was planning on asking her in a nicer way, but after a sleepover the next morning I had to leave and she was still asleep and I was anxious, so I left a note for her with a ringpop. My cousin I asked to be a BM with a ringpop down on one knee, hehe. It was actually super nerve-wracking even though I knew she’d obviously say yes!

I totally wish I would have done something clever to ask them! I just asked each of them in person in a dorky junior high school way lol

I am in your boat! If I had known about the totally cute ways to ask bridesmaids I would have asked them with those cute ways! I just sat down with them for lunch like you and asked them that way!

I would’ve preferred to ask in person like you did. I got to ask my sister before she left for college, but my best friend lives in Kansas City, and we only see each other once or twice a year. I sent her a card.

I’m like you! I only asked one of my bridesmaids in a “Pintrest-worthy” (which is how I deem creativeness these days) way. I asked my maid of honor to be my maid of honor via text message, admittedly a cute text message, but still a text message. I sent her a picture of the BM dress I was thinking of at the time, asked her what she thought of it, then asked if she would wear it, then asked if she would wear it in December (thus revealing the date we had picked). My other bridesmaid, FH and I asked her and 2 of the groomsmen all together after having pulled them aside at a party. Two of my bridesmaids are FH’s sisters, so he asked them for me. The last bridesmaid to be asked got the creative “Pintrest-worthy” card, with the front being memories I have of the two of us, and the inside “Will you be my bridesmaid” in big letters, and the back was pictures of us as kids, then as teenagers, and then a recent picture. I now wish I had made cards for all my bridesmaids, and like you I regret that all the time, but I think I will include cards with their BM gifts closer to the wedding!

@notbridey: I know what you mean! Mr. B was working out with his best man EVERY night when we got engaged and it still took him like 2 months to ask! I was SO frustrated! Finally I was like, you have to do it tonight or stay at the gym!
@Mrs. Castle: Yep! The way I asked my two bff’s from high school was pretty much that. And they were totally surprised I thought they’d say no!
@Jacofblues: I know what you mean! Once I started really planning and etsy became my new best friend, every time I saw something cute I got a little bummed out!
@Miss Treasure: I am definitely happy I got to ask them in person, it’s not as fun when you get to SEE their reaction!
@BabyBlueEyes: ok first off, I LOVE that you used the term “Pinterest-worthy”! And that card definitely sounds like it was! One out of the bunch isn’t bad at all!

“I always knew S would again be my maid of honor.” Again? I’m confused.

I asked my girls with a locket…On the inside was a note that asked “will you be my bridesmaid?”. I also included a card because I wanted each girl to know how special she is to me. They loved it!

I kind of just blurted it out to all of them. I did make a point to ask them all in person, but beyond that I didn’t do anything special.

My FI, on the other hand, took each of his GMs to a Penguins game and asked them there. Smooth guy!

Awww, I love that he just blurted it out like that! I wish I had put a bit more thought into asking my girls, but we were all long distance so I sent them a card!

I wish I would have asked my girls in a creative way too, but they all pretty much knew they were in the wedding and just assumed the roles without me asking! I did send a card to my MOH though, but it wasn’t anything special.
