Mrs. Genie's Picture
Mrs. Genie, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 23, Admissions Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Biotechnology Engagement Date: July 3, 2010 Wedding Date: July 2012 Venue: Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center About Me: I am bibliophile and Disney nerd who is marrying her science genius high school sweetheart in not one, but two, weddings! When I am not working or wedding planning, I am usually found reading a book (or my Nook), weeping at an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, or frolicking in Disneyland. Mr. Genie is usually found rolling his eyes at my eccentric behaviors while playing Diablo III, solving great big science problems, and introducing me to highbrow television like Breaking Bad. We are getting married in a traditional American wedding, jetting to Costa Rica, and coming back for a traditional Bengali wedding one month later! I can’t wait to share all my plans with the Hive! About Mrs. Genie

As a choir girl, there’s one thing I have learned, and that is that rehearsal is important! Even if it is only walking into place. That is all a choir girl usually ever has to worry about in terms of movement. The singing is a whole ‘nother thing. So you better believe I cared about the rehearsal. Almost everyone who could make it came to our rehearsal.

With my cute ribbon bouquet from MOH Wino, ready to get the show on the road!

We did need some help from stand-ins.

Our Wayfarers coordinator and DOC, Joyce, were my parents for the day.

It doesn’t look like it in the picture, but I started to tear up walking down the aisle. If my parents had been there, I think I might have actually lost it. They were, unfortunately, lost en route to Wayfarers.

Getting instructions

I’m sure everyone was trying to pay attention, but I think the excitement was getting to all of us. We just wanted to get to celebrating!

Mr. G was trying very hard to get every detail in order.

Next up: A soon-to-be Mrs. Genie gets a little hangry. Warning: It wasn’t so pretty.

As one choir girl to another — isn’t it mind-boggling how otherwise intelligent people can become so incredibly stupid when it comes to lining up and walking on and off stage? It never fails to amaze me! So yes, I definitely wanted everyone to go through the motions at my rehearsal, too!

I think ‘hangry’ is like the Weddingbee “Sesame Street ‘word of the day’” — I swear I’ve just read like three or four posts where it’s been used! haha.

On another note, I forgot that you had that amazingly gorgeous venue for your ceremony!!! Damn, it’s beautiful. I can’t wait to see the pro pictures.

Sorry I didn’t mention the origins of the dress! It’s from H&M. I spent weeks looking for a cute little white dress, and I was buying a scarf at H&M, and it was hanging, unassuming, right next to me. It was only $30 and I didn’t even try it on! So cute!

I think I was one of the few brides who didn’t experience being hangry. Sooo lucky!

Beautiful dress! But my mouth almost hit the floor when I saw your venue….GORGEOUS!!! I wish I lived where you do, coz I have been looking high and low for a ceremony space that would give me a indoor-outdoor feel, coz with an outdoor April wedding in Indiana…am a BIT nervous
