About Mrs. Panda

If the Shoe Fits…

October 16th, 2012 @ 1:37 pm by Mrs. Panda

I am the most indecisive person when it comes to shoes.  I seriously have tried and returned no less than six pairs of shoes in the last six months. I didn’t think I was too picky when it comes to shoes, but really, I think I am.

Things that I’m looking for in my wedding shoes:

1.) Blue. I’m really looking for the pop of color underneath my dress. My bridesmaids are going to be in blue, and I think it would help bring everything together.

2.) Great aesthetics. Has a pretty, eye-catching design on top. No ankle strap. Great lines from all angles. A delicate looking heel. Satin (or other pretty) fabrics. I want the shoes to be special, therefore they must look special.

I’m not too picky, I swear.

My first love was Badgley Mischka’s Randall d’Orsay Pump.

Look how gorgeous that is.

It’s a pity that when I got them in real life, the colors were just not what I had envisioned. I guess they were not as bright as I was hoping they would be. They make my feet look really old, wrinkly, and weird. I mean, just look at my ankle. I think my feet also had a booty for the first time ever. I’m just not sure I have the legs to pull those shoes off. It was so so so wrong, so I sent them back.

My second love, Zigi Soho Supreme. I bought this pair and paraded around my apartment with them for three or four weeks before I hesitantly returned them. They were the right color, they had the most adorable bow. They were so pretty. Unfortunately, they were also out of my size, and going up meant I was waddling in them. I wasn’t really a big fan of the platform nature of the shoe either—it ended up being close to a five-inch heel! I just did not really feel very comfortable being that tall. Furthermore, given how trendy the platform is, I really feel like it’ll date really badly. Thus, sadly, I returned them.

I went through another couple pairs of shoes that aren’t really even worth mentioning more than in passing.

Thus, I’m still on the search for the perfect shoe. Here are my current loves:

Nine West discontinued shoes. / Image via Where did u get that?

I (as well as every person on Pinterest) just absolutely adore this pair of shoes from Nine West. It’s a pity that I can’t seem to find anything even remotely close to it.

I love the flower detailing, but I’m not sure I want to know how much these shoes by Manolo Blahnik would cost.

I actually really, really love the lace ones.  I feel like the lace shoes could be fairly straightforward to make, and then I could get a pair of heels with that type of design, and in blue, which might be the closest to the ideal pair of shoes I’ve seen yet. Thoughts? Has anyone attempted to attach lace to shoes? Or should I keep looking? When should I stop looking and just settle?

You should try Design Your Pedestal. I found her shoes on Pinterest and got a pair of custom made baseball shoes. The woman who runs the company, Kate, is quick and amazing to work with.

I just bought custom made from Milk and Honey because I couldn’t find a shoe I liked in real life, all were too high to walk in or not “special” enough for the wedding…ended up being much cheaper than the Jimmy Choos I was coveting anyway haha.

I’ll share my wedding shoe love! They’re blue and have fun bling.

Here’s my problem: I wear Rainbows, TOMS, and Uggs if I HAVE to. That’s it. I have heels for formal events, but nothing wedding worthy. I can only imagine what my shoe search will be like…..

@Miss Otter: Why not wear Toms? :) I have a pair that I hand painted for my reception.

You could totally applique lace to your shoes! Find a base you like and embellish it to your heart’s content. I had a similarly vague yet specific set of requirements for my shoes.

@mgol25: ooh that looks like a great option. thanks!

@BookishBelle: I looked at their website too, but it’s definitely not cheap =/ I might just bite the bullet and do it

@kbiceling: I really like those… hm..

@Miss Otter: I’m not much of a heel person either, I hope I don’t break my neck

@Mrs. Pain au Chocolat: that’s a great idea! I should look into it. I love your description of the “vague yet specific”, I feel like I’ll know when I see it…. if I ever see it….

I had so much trouble finding shoes! The pair eventually I did buy is a touch too big, but some padding has fixed that! I hope you find a good pair, you need to be patient as it takes a while, or it did for me!

@kbiceling, @Miss Otter: I’m wearing TOMS to our wedding. . .actually, our whole wedding party is wearing TOMS. :) I’m going with the blue glitters!

Good luck, Miss Panda. I think the lace ones would be perfect and very fitting for you!

i also wanted blue shoes and searched high and low to find the perfect pair. i found a kate spade style i liked (clarice), but it was only available in pink in stores. then, i happened upon My Glass Slipper, which has a big selection of designer shoes that can be died. i ended up with the exact shoes in the exact color i wanted, and was comfortable dancing the night away in them:)

here’s a link to the dyeable kate spade styles on my glass slipper, some of which have lace and other appliques: http://www.myglassslipper.com/designer-wedding-shoes/kate-spade

i had color #291, which is similar to the color of the zigi shoes in your post.

happy searching!

I am making my own lace and pearl shoes for my 5/4/13 wedding! The only thing I have left to do is the toe of the shoes. It’s really simple to glue on the lace/pearls using E6000 glue :-)
