I haven’t really blogged much about registering, but I figured I’d mention it since it has definitely been one of my favorite parts about planning a wedding. And not for the obvious reason—picking out stuff other people are going to buy us (though of course that’s a little bit of it). I keep checking on my registries, editing the lists, looking at everything together…just because it’s fun to plan for our future household. It may seem sort of silly—picking the forks we’re going to eat pasta with doesn’t necessarily equate to a lifetime of togetherness—but it’s been weirdly romantic to put the two together. Plus, even though we’ve lived together for YEARS now, we have never really shopped for this type of stuff before. We just both brought crappy college stuff to the relationship, so this is the first time we’re getting stuff expressly ours.
Here’s where we registered and a few of our favorite items:
Crate & Barrel
This was a no-brainer because there’s one a block away from our house AND from my office. They have pretty much everything we want with enough choices to be fun, but not overwhelm. Plus, there’s an app! Some stuff we like…
Hayes 4-Piece Place Setting

Our current plates are an amalgamation of Walmart and Home Goods pieces that are starting to warp and stain in really…gross interesting ways. I cannot WAIT to have cohesive, quality stuff. I love the slate color and how sturdy these are.

I love the round stems and hammered metal. Kinda matches our plates now that I think about it.
Olin Grey 25″ Floor Pillows

We live in a teeny apartment, and floor pillows are great for adding seating if we need it without taking up space. Problem is…we’ve just been using regular pillows for it and they’re getting beat up.

Another thing about Crate & Barrel? they have Le Creuset. Registry hallmark.
Target
We picked target as our secondary registry for one main reason:

Honestly, if C&B carried a Keurig, we might have skipped the Target registry altogether, but they also have some items that are just plain cheaper at Target (pots and pans, blenders, that kinda thing).
Anthropologie
Anthropologie’s registry isn’t really a true registry—it’s a wish list that people can order online from, so if they purchase in store, the item won’t be automatically removed from the list. But, in case you’re not aware, they have some of the cutest home goods ever—at price points that do get a little high if you’re purchasing on your own. But in my experience, people like to gift you with these types of things as they seem more “fun” than a set of plain sheets. Some examples from our list:

See what I mean? All these things would add a little bit of interest (and color!) and I’m really excited about them. Don’t get me wrong—some of Anthro’s stuff is really silly (a $250 cutting board! a $600 quilt!) and thus probably not the best fit for a registry (at least not for this wedding), but I definitely recommend making a list there if you like that style at all.
Honeymoon Fund
We’re also setting up a honeymoon fund for anyone who would prefer to do that (once we pick a destination, of course). We don’t anticipate getting a ton from it—we have enough need for registry items and enough items listed—but even a little bit could make a big difference. Plus, I guess it’s a fun way to tell your guests what you’re planning to do on your honeymoon.
Do you think four registries is too much—even if they’re not that long? What are your “registry hallmarks”?
