After sitting on our save the dates for a week or two, too nervous to actually mail them off, I finally got up the courage to send them to their final destinations.
On one hand, it was really exciting since it’s starting to come together—PBear, it might be too late to change our minds and elope.
On the other hand, it’s really scary to let other people see what we’ve been working on for so long. I’m so scared that people are going to hate the postcards or think they’re ridiculous. I recognize that this is a fairly irrational fear since these postcards are going to people who love us and who know that we’re just a bit silly. And the postcards are gorgeous and everything I ever imagined they would be and more. But a little part of me still worries—worrying is the one thing I’m really good at.
One last check before we send them off
Stack of cards
Such a pity that I didn’t actually leave enough space for the stamp, as you can see on a blank postcard, and the stamp covered part of the postcard illustration. Oh well.
Anyone notice anything weird about the save the dates? Well, other than the fact we’re sending them way way way in advance of our actual wedding?
Why are those “garden of love” forever stamps, worth way more than what an average postcard takes to send?

Why yes they are. One of my first purchases after PBear and I got engaged were “garden of love” stamps. I just had to have them. I could not get over the clever use of hearts as flowers and animals. The strawberry? looks good enough to eat. The doves? I just want to take them home as pets. Love and flowers, but not cheesy and overly wedding-y, it was the perfect stamp for us. I justified buying them at the time by saying forever stamps were increasing in price and, thus, we had to buy all our stamps now before the price increase.
But what were we going to do when we finally decided to do STD postcards? I decided that since we had already bought the stamps, it was a sunk cost. Furthermore, in a small way, we would be doing our part to prevent the bankruptcy of the post office. PBear just laughed at me and told me I didn’t have to justify spending additional money for pretty stamps. Well fine then.
I am so excited for everyone to get them! I hope they like them!
I guess the next question is, what do you do with 70 extra STDs?
House of cards, anyone?
