Serendipity threw us together again and again (and again) on our college campus before we eventually stuck, but when we finally did submit to destiny, we hit the ground running and never looked back! We’re planning a religious, small town, budget-friendly, DIY-infused “winter becomes springtime” ceremony and reception to celebrate the beginning of our lives together with the people we love the most, and are pouring our hearts and souls into making sure our wedding represents us as a couple down to the nitty gritty details and balances tradition with the quirky individuality that is uniquely and unequivocally “us”!

“Something Blue”

October 16th, 2012 @ 2:49 pm by Mrs. Armadillo

When it came to deciding what I would have with me on my wedding day as my “something blue,” I was initially a little stumped. Granted, many brides choose to have some kind of undergarment represent their “something blue,” like a garter:

But, I kind of already have an idea for my garter, so I knew I didn’t want to go the semi-traditional blue route. That ended up leaving me, well, nowhere.

But then—oh, then!—super-amazing, awesomely fantastic Mama Dillo had the most wonderful idea EVER for my something blue! During my most recent birthday, I opened up these gorgeous beauties

They’re a pair of aquamarine drop earrings set in sterling silver and surrounded by tiny white sapphires. They’re somewhat dainty with a definite vintage feel to them, which is sort of what I’m trying to implement in my wedding-day ensemble. The aqua blue color of the stones is very faint and subtle, which I only think adds to the gorgeousness of them. They’re especially sentimental since aquamarine is the birthstone for the month of March, which, of course, is the month the mister and I are getting married!

The obligatory up-close shot

I am so, so, SO SUPER DUPER EXCITED to wear these earrings on my wedding day, and I think they’ll look completely perfect with the ensemble I’ve dreamed up in my mind. It’s kind of ironic that I’ve settled on practically every aspect of my wedding-day attire EXCEPT for my dress, so I guess I’ll just have to end up picking a gown that goes with all my accessories!

Did you end up picking out other items of your wedding-day ensemble before you settled on a wedding dress? What are you using as your “something blue”?

Your earrings are so beautiful!

My FI and I started dating in March, but we are getting married in May. I really wish we didn’t have to give up our anniversary date, but I wanted an outdoor ceremony and March is just too cold in Maine. My engagement ring is actually Aquamarine because I am not a diamond fan and when we talked about getting engaged I told him that is the stone I wanted.

That is funny that you’re selecting everything in reverse! Very brave of you – I don’t think I could have done that. What a lovely pair of earrings!

Those are lovely! I picked my shoes long before my dress then ended up making my own jewellery about a month before the wedding. I knew before I picked the dress roughly what kind of jewellery I wanted, but I had to make sure that the dress would go with it.

Oh my gosh! I LOVE these earrings, Miss A! We’re using our birthstones (aquamarine for me, a March baby; sapphire for the Mr., a September baby) as our colors and I am just DYING for these! I might have to make an impulse purchase. . .whoooops. ;)
