Miss Panda's Picture
Miss Panda, Boston, MA Age and Occupation: 26, Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Graduate Student Engagement Date: June 27, 2011 Wedding Date: June 2013 About Me: I love window shopping, cute animals, crafting, baking, and most forms of procrastination. I tend to be overly meticulous with choices to a point of complete and total indecision. Mr. PBear and I met and live in the amazing city of Boston. We are big nerds who love trying new foods, playing video games, and cuddling with our adorable hamster. After 5 years together, we are planning an intimate, DIY-heavy, vintage garden themed, nonreligious wedding in the city where we fell in love.
About Miss Panda

I am so jealous of all the brides who had the opportunity to pick interesting numbers as their wedding date.

I mean, you’ll never have a problem of people forgetting the date. And it’s so cool that there is a significance behind the date, versus our well…I guess we want to get married sometime in June. Well, I guess, this weekend is as good as any.

Now that we’re getting further and further into the century, we seem to having fewer and fewer great number combinations.

There is, however, one date that I absolutely loooove, and it hasn’t happened yet. Though, I admit, it won’t happen for a couple of years either. If PBear and I were willing to wait a couple more years, this would have been our date. So take notes, bees with significant others that are planning on getting married in a couple of years, but not in the immediate future. I bequeath to you: the perfect wedding date ever.

It’s Pi Day! And I just outed myself as the biggest nerd ever.

For those people looking at your calendars (I know there has to be at least one of you), get this—it’s a Saturday. How perfect is that?

Seriously, the wedding just plans itself.

And piiiiii(eeee)!!

In another life, this would be my wedding. I still dream about it from time to time. Anyone else have a completely other wedding they would have in a different life? Is this wedding anyone else’s dream too?

LOL that is great. My MOH frequently discusses plans for her “Wedding That Wasn’t.” My dream (but not realistic) wedding involves a few things that I am able to incorporate into our real wedding, and a few things that aren’t, mostly due to logistics and a tiny wedding being impossible.

At least you get to love on some pi weddings in a few years!

Love it! If money was no object we would have had two weddings. We wanted two seperate affairs: a low key beach wedding and a 1920′s Great Gatsby themed bank breaker platinum wedding. Well… let’s just say I don’t have over $500k stashed away to make that happen. So we had the dream beach wedding. However, we keep joking that is we even won the lottery… well… we would be renewing our vows ;)

You’ll just have to have an awesome pie party on this date and incorporate these ideas!

Interesting numbers are great and all but who else really remembers wedding dates other than parents, siblings, and perhaps, bridal party ?

Luckily, in Canada, we go DD/MM/YY instead of MM/DD/YY, so my date actually works out to be 10/11/12! Not too shabby!

I like the pi idea though, definitely cute for people who are into math and science!

@Blonde17Jess: ooh “wedding that wasn’t” I like that phrase. I’m stealing it. It’s true, hopefully in a couple of years, I’ll get to live vicariously through other bees’ weddings.

@epalmisano829: that sounds amazing

@evergladebee: yes! I’m not the only one!

@Mrs. Pony: that sounds like a great idea, I told PBear that we should renew our vows on that date, but he didn’t seem to like the idea.

@karineh: yeah, I don’t think other people would get it, but *shrug* all I care about is that PBear will remember the date. (funny story, recently, PBear wrote an email to a vendor and said that we were getting married in July, not June… you’d think considering we’ve had our wedding date for over a year, he’d at least remember what month it’s in.)

@raspberry bride: That’s true, for nonAmericans, you can probably do a lot more interesting things with a DD/MM/YY system.

This is so funny! I agree with Mrs. Pony~ have a pi(e) party on 3/14/15 since you can’t have your wedding then. There are definitely other weddings I would have wanted in a different life — like a beach/destination wedding, a fall wedding, a chic/hip city wedding, etc. But my suburban spring wedding was beautiful and everyone had a good time, so I can’t complain!

haha that’s awesome! I’ve noticed that that date is coming around too! You’re my nerd twin, Miss PB. My college apartment was number 314 and we always referred to it as the Pi House. And I’m obsessed with our date being something that has a mathy reference..like 2 – 7 – 14 or something. You’re not the only one!

@Red Poppy: yes, I find it always amazing that even though we often dream of many different weddings, we tend to be really happy with the one we ended up with

@Lauren: oh my god, I would die to live in the Pi House. That’s amazing. PBear and I actually went through a lot of different constants and famous numbers looking for a wedding date. None of them really worked as well as Pi day though, oh well

Before coming to WBee, I never heard of this whole “numbers thing” in regards to Wedding Dates (other than I believe that Princess Di consulted a Fortune Teller to help her set the date for her Royal Wedding to Prince Charles back in 1981)

Now I find it a bit fascinating…

Mr TTR’s and my own date was to be Christmas Eve (my choosing… in that I liked the idea of getting married on a holiday), but now that that hasn’t worked out as planned, we are looking at a date sometime in January. But I have to admit that marrying in 2013, has thrown me for a bit of a spin, because I am a tad superstitious and don’t particularly like the number 13 to begin with.

Gotta agree with raspberry bride: us Canadians are lucky when it comes to looking at dates, in that we can actually look at 3 diffferent prototypes (all of which are used here to some extent)… Imperial = DD/MM/YY – American = MM/DD/YY – and Metric = YY-MM-DD. Certainly gives us more options for finding a unique combination.

Pi Day!! We celebrate pi day every year, by buying/making, and then most importantly, eating some pie! We’ll have to do something extra special in 2015 (also, hooray for being nerds!) :-)

@This Time Round: Metric’s not that common around here but we actually live in imperial way every day. It’s confusing for me when having to put the month/day/year.

I love the PI day idea. I’ll have to remember to at least bake a pie that day.

the math seating chart is amazing! i love cool dates too – was jealous of all the 9/10/11 brides – that won’t happen again!

mine’s 2/2 which i liked because of the double, but also weird liked that 2/2/13 was 2+2 = 1+3? its a stretch. but i’m glad i’m not the only one who is thinking of it!

Miss Panda- you will LOVE this, my Sister’s dog, Fibonacci, was born on PI Day!!! Crazy right? He gets to go to school to meet her third grade students on his birthday usually. Sounds like you and her would have lots in common! She’s getting married in June though, no math reference at all, but it is our Grandparent’s anniversary. :) I also like “wedding that wasn’t!”

Showed my boyfriend and he freaked out. And if we still have a ways before we get engaged, it could work out. I’m not a math person, but I like making him happy, haha

@This Time Round: I am weirdly superstitious too. I was trying to convince PBear to get married this year, but alias, someone didn’t propose early enough to give me enough time to plan a wedding this year, (6/9/12 was my original plan…)

@chipmunklove: I love totoro. that is all.

@Miss Toadstool: I wish this was more standardized. I think D/M/Y makes the most sense, but I’m sure if I tried to start doing that here, I would get everyone confused

@Miss Gray Wolf: our wedding date is a bit of a stretch like that. Oh well.

@Katelyn: You have a great birthday! Jealous!

@ChicagoDreamer: thanks =)

@Miss Sword: shut up. you’re kidding! loooove it! That’s *amazing* gosh I love that dog. (I think every post of yours should have that dog ;) )

@futureMFG: aah! that’s amazing! I hope you guys do it then!
