Mrs. Otter, Indianapolis, IN Age and Occupation: 22, Freelance Social Media Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, CVS Shift Supervisor Engagement Date: November 11, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2013 Venue: Mustard Seed Gardens About Me: I'm a born and raised Hoosier girl, but a diehard Michigan Wolverines fan. I have a tendency to take too many photos and spend full days having TV marathons. Mr. Otter and I met in high school, started dating a couple years later, and moved in after a month of being official. He is easygoing and makes plans on a whim, while I'm color coordinating my planner and organizing everything in sight. He hates glitter, but it's my favorite thing. I have tattoos and he still won't get one, despite my attempts to convince him. We're planning a small, rustic, and (hopefully!) peony-filled wedding to get our married life started. (And yes, there will be glitter involved!)

Dance Offs

October 23rd, 2012 @ 5:58 am by Mrs. Otter

If that title didn’t capture your attention —let me say it again:

Today we’re talking about DANCE OFFS.

Yep, at the wedding. Here’s what happened: Mr. Otter and Best Man Batman declared that they wanted their own dance. They reasoned that if Mr. Otter gets a dance with me, why does he not get a dance with his best man!? At first, I laughed this off. There was no way I planned to let this happen. But then…genius struck. The boys want their own dance? Fine. Then the girls will have our dance too.

Then I realized that (with or without alcohol, since that decision is still up in the air) I’m not down for a literal dance off because, as hard as I try, I can’t dance. So instead, I’ll let the boys sing the TWO WORDS they know to their song and the girls will gang up and have a whole list of songs that we obnoxiously sing and dance to in their faces.

Their playlist:

  • “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga

Our playlist:

  • “Aaron’s Party” by Aaron Carter
  • “Spice Up Your Life” by the Spice Girls
  • “Callin’ Baton Rouge” by (the king) Garth Brooks
  • “Friends in Low Places” by (again, duh) Garth Brooks
  • “Bye Bye Bye” by ’N Sync

Also, it may be good to note, there’s only two of them; Best Man Batman + the groom. There are at least four of us; me, BM Lails, MOH Cubbie, and love of my life (sorry Mr. Otter!) Jenna. Does that mean automatic victory? ;)

What fun surprises do you have for guests at the wedding? And sure, you can substitute terrifying for fun if you want.

HAHA! we had a sing off to Ice Ice Baby between two of our friends. We didn’t give them any advance warning, but we knew they both knew EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. to the song….and it was hilarious!

We had a whole 90s teen pop section at our reception and it was epic, so I wholeheartedly approve your playlist.

Mr. P and BM J’s husband have a song that is theirs that they insisted on dancing to at our wedding, which then resulted in a dance off. It was pretty awesome. I highly recommend it :)

LMFAO I love this idea! I might need to sneak a girly song on our playlist to do this to my fiance!
