I left off the first half of my shower with all the amazing details and a custom game of Scattergories. The afternoon ended with gifts. Opening up all of those packages in front of everyone was definitely a weird experience. I don’t mind being the center of attention, so that didn’t bother me, but coming from a large family (oldest of five), I’m so used to having to wait 10 minutes after opening a gift before I can tackle the next one. The steady stream of presents felt so luxurious, and I was in awe of how generous—and creative—my friends and family were.

The gift above was made (!) for me by BM G.

I had pinned something similar to this recently and she reproduced it on her own—amazing, right?
My grandma won the award for most unexpected gift—some sexy white lingerie for the wedding night!

This is the robe that goes with it…not sure my sister felt comfortable taking a picture of the other half…
Besides throwing the party, MOH K blew it out of the water with her gifts too—this was my favorite: custom stationery for us!

Also, remember when I posted about our Anthropologie “registry”—with the warning that it wasn’t a true registry, just a wish list? Well…turns out that makes more of a difference than I thought! I got about four butter dishes, five mercury glass candles, a few measuring spoon sets, and three spoon rests. It became sort of a running joke—“Ooh, what is it? Probably another butter dish!” I thought it was funny that all my friends had the same idea. It became sort of a bonding topic for some of the guests who didn’t know each other well. With the value of what I returned, I was able to complete the entire Anthropologie registry altogether, so it was a win!
After enjoying some cake and donut holes, we took some photos for posterity:

My beautiful bridesmaids—Sister S, BM G, BM A, and MOH K. First time all together!

Three generations of Gray Wolf women

Roommates from UVA

Future SIL and MIL sandwich. I’m marrying into an amazing family.
We didn’t have an engagement party, so this was the first official “event” of our wedding—and it was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better shower, or more generous, loving friends and family.

Thanks, MOH. I’m so lucky to have you.
One last note: I ended up canceling my rental to wear a dress made by my uber-talented friend with her own clothing line in Charleston. MOH K’s dress is by her too—easily one of my favorite garments ever.
