Mrs. Otter, Indianapolis, IN Age and Occupation: 22, Freelance Social Media Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, CVS Shift Supervisor Engagement Date: November 11, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2013 Venue: Mustard Seed Gardens About Me: I'm a born and raised Hoosier girl, but a diehard Michigan Wolverines fan. I have a tendency to take too many photos and spend full days having TV marathons. Mr. Otter and I met in high school, started dating a couple years later, and moved in after a month of being official. He is easygoing and makes plans on a whim, while I'm color coordinating my planner and organizing everything in sight. He hates glitter, but it's my favorite thing. I have tattoos and he still won't get one, despite my attempts to convince him. We're planning a small, rustic, and (hopefully!) peony-filled wedding to get our married life started. (And yes, there will be glitter involved!)

Getting Dressed: The Men

October 25th, 2012 @ 8:07 am by Mrs. Otter

Today I’m talking about THE MEN (I want to make them feel important, hence the all caps. ;) Ha!) and their attire.

So we definitely have a plan: dark gray and light gray. Gray is Mr. Otter’s favorite color, so we already decided that he would be wearing gray at the wedding. I want to differentiate the fathers from the groom + his guys, so we decided the light and dark would be the best way to go.

We’re thinking something like this for the groom + guys.

And we want something more like this for the dads…

…ending up with something like this for the guys as a group! (Except they’ll all be wearing jackets, as of now…)

This would be a great contrast, and it will make the dads stand out from anyone else who chooses to wear a suit for the wedding!

The guys are going to be easy—the only thing to figure out are the shoes. What do you think? Should we go casual or dressy for the shoes?

I’ll go dressy, all the way, but I admit I like how guys look with suits and converse, but they’re just not the style of my guys.

We’re going dressy too. My guy figures that he can (and does) wear converses almost every day, so he wanted something a bit more special. In that same vein, if your guy wants to do converse but isnt sure if it’s “enough,” I might go the custom route and get your names/initials/wedding date embroidered on there.

Dressy, unless Mr. O has a strong connection to a casual type of shoe. You’ll never regret being overdressed, but I could see the opposite being true.

Dressy. I think that for one day, everyone can dress like a grown-up. I’m not a fan of the suit-and-sneakers look.

I say dressy unless the casual shoe means something special to Mr. O.

Truthfully I don’t even know what kind of shoes our guys wore — but dressy is probably a good thing. :)

I love the idea of the slight contrast between men. Are you doing anything that will completely set Mr. Otter apart?

Oo, great idea! We’re going to do gray too, and I hadn’t thought about differentiating the dads. Such a good idea!
