Mrs. Gray Wolf's Picture
Mrs. Gray Wolf, Washington DC Age and Occupation: 26, Business Development Executive Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Research Scientist Engagement Date: November 11, 2011 Wedding Date: February 2013 Venue: Whittemore House About Me: I'm an ultra-organized, pun-loving, list-making, cheese-enthusiast bride-to-be. Although my day job is in cubicle land, I'm happiest in the modern art wing of a museum, having recently earned my Masters in Museum Studies. Shortly after a chance meeting five years ago, I moved in with Wolfman and haven't looked back since. We love music, movies, TV, and all things pop culture; we have an unspoken competition to be the first to share the latest YouTube sensation or indie song. Together, we've filled quite a few pages in our passports, but also love quiet nights in with a Game of Thrones marathon and our French Bulldog, Tonks (Harry Potter, anyone?). I'm planning a small, cozy winter wedding---think mercury glass and candle light---in the heart of DC. Our venue is a historic home with a lot of political charm, but needs a bit of work to be wedding-ready.
About Mrs. Gray Wolf

Old, Borrowed, Blue

October 25th, 2012 @ 9:48 am by Mrs. Gray Wolf

Since we’re on the subject of my shower, I wanted to share what my mother gifted me with—my old, borrowed, and blue:

First, old, on the left: this is a topaz ring that belonged to my great-great-aunt. It’s simple, but it’s my birthstone, and something that’s been in the Gray Wolf family for a long time. Even though I have baby hands, it crazily fit and I’ve been wearing it ever since.

Then, my borrowed and blue: my mom sewed my dad’s wedding ring to a blue pin she made that I’ll be able to attach to my wedding dress (which will be my something new). If you’ll recall, my father passed away a few years ago, and I knew I wanted to incorporate something from him into my wedding attire; I thought I’d string his wedding ring onto a necklace or bracelet or something, but I love this so much more because my mom made it.

Thanks, Mom—these are amazing.

Aw, I love when the “somethings” have great meaning!!! My old is my grandmother’s wedding ring (she passed away when I was 8), my borrowed is my mother’s pearls which she had specially made for HER wedding day (31 happy years of marriage so far, I figure it’s good luck!), my new is my dress and my blue is my shoes :)

I like that you’ll be attaching your dad’s ring to your dress, it’ll be like him walking down the aisle with you.

I love how your mom has your dads ring displayed. I think that will be the perfect addition. Make sure to get a detail shot from your photographer of that. That will want to be something you remember!

Gorgeous. The pin is so sweet and I didn’t even know you could get red topaz. You learn something new every day I suppose!
