Pack It In

October 25th, 2012 @ 5:54 am by Mrs. Treasure

Unless you’re getting ready for the wedding at your house and returning to your house that night, you’re going to need to pack for your wedding. In our case, we got ready at hotels downtown, spent our wedding night at a hotel downtown, and then immediately left for our honeymoon on Sunday afternoon. In preparation for the massive amount of stuff we would need, I turned to the internet for every packing list I could find. Here’s my contribution to the internet groupthink on this topic.

  • Miss T’s wedding attire (dress, bolero, veil, belt, shoes (heels and flats), earrings, hair comb, brooch, Spanx, necklace)
  • Mr. T’s wedding attire (tuxedo, shirt, bow tie, undershirt, studs, cuff links, belt, shoes, socks, boxers)
  • Rehearsal dinner attire
  • Rehearsal bouquet
  • Toiletries (bridesmaid kit, comb, teasing comb, teasing brush, hairspray, makeup bag, fake eyelashes, eyelash glue, makeup sponges, razor, shaving cream, bobby pins, hair ties, moisturizer, toothbrush, blotting tissues)
  • Robe for getting ready
  • Marriage license
  • Rings
  • Ring box
  • Invitation suite for photos
  • Vendor tips/checkbook
  • Cell phone charger
  • iPod stereo
  • Flip cams
  • Champagne and orange juice
  • Paper plates and plastic knives for bagels
  • Bouquet-making supplies (floral tape, floral wire, ribbon, pins)
  • Pretty hanger for dress photos
  • Honeymoon luggage

Here are some things I forgot that I wish I would’ve brought:

  • Flip flops for getting ready in the morning. Thankfully, one of my friends let me wear hers.
  • A rockin’ iTunes playlist for getting ready. I made an amazing playlist on Spotify, but the signal was terrible in the high-rise hotel, so we couldn’t listen to it. My pride parade playlist had to suffice. (It was oddly similar to my wedding playlist.)
  • Even more bobby pins. I had one little piece of hair that kept poking out, but I ran out of pins to control it.

How about you guys? What did you pack for your wedding weekend? What did you forget to pack that you wish you would have remembered?

I’m going to have “Jump Around” stuck in my head all day now. ;)

We managed to do pretty well, and didn’t forget anything we couldn’t re-purchase (so basically, we remembered our wedding clothes and marriage license!). I got terribly sick the morning we left for our wedding weekend, and was packing without a list and without the ability to stand upright without getting dizzy, so I was pretty pleased that we mostly survived. ;) But I know I wish I’d had this post to think about before my wedding (and I wish I hadn’t taken a zinc tablet on an empty stomach, but hey, coulda, woulda, shoulda).

It still makes me sad that I forgot our invitations for pro pictures, a list is a smart idea!

I would never have thought to bring my invitations to the wedding… I know I’ve seen cute pictures of them, but somehow it didn’t click that they’re in the picture because someone brought it to the wedding… :) I’m putting it on the list!

We had to pack for our rehearsal, our wedding day (two separate bags), our wedding night, and our honeymoon all up front. I literally put piles of things all along our hallway with post-it notes on the wall labeling which “event” they were for. BEYOND RIDICULOUS… but worked. Who knew it would be so complicated?!?

We had a two-page long Google doc because we were packing for a destination wedding, AND our honeymoon. We still had to go shopping, though!

I definitely agree with casual shoes for getting ready. I ended up stealing a pair of my mom’s.

What was most important to me? Assigning someone to bring my suitcase and all packed “emergency items”! That meant that I had no make-up, brush, etc for freshening up! I had to borrow lipstick from my girlfriends for my reception photos. Ugh!

Right there with you emphasizing the shoes! Not everyone has a groom or friends with similarly sized feet that can lend a pair. I like the idea of making this list before bride brain takes over too much!

I giggled that your “pride parade” playlist was similar to your wedding playlist! At least you had a good backup :)
