Cinderella Thinks She Can Do Better

October 29th, 2012 @ 7:32 am by Mrs. Sword

So I went shoe shopping, and frankly, it’s about time! To be honest, I feel a wee bit behind on my overall bridal look.

I still need to purchase shoes, jewelry, figure out all my “something’s,” and decide on a veil. But it’s not like I don’t want to go shopping (because I do, I definitely do), it’s just that I’m afraid to commit to anything. I’ve never been someone obsessed with the accessorizing of an outfit, and suddenly I need to choose items that will be showcased in my photos for years to come. This is the big leagues baby and I’m scared!

Booking vendors and even choosing and ordering Evie all went pretty smoothly because I knew I had a timeline and I was able to make quick and smart decisions without second guessing myself. For some reason I’m convinced that there are just too many options for shoes and jewelry; thus I’m overwhelmed at the thought of making a selection!

Like I said last week, I did end up checking out the Glass Slipper Collection at DSW, but I’m sorry to report I just wasn’t feeling them. Sadly, there were no butterflies or giddiness. They have a shoe that is Cinderella-inspired and it is beautiful, but it’s not quite special enough. The display was nice though, and I didn’t have to look far when I entered the store!

Please excuse the crappy photos and the fact that I’m wearing the little nylon footsie things.

I can see the nod to Cinderella, but I’m still thinking I want more of a clear or nude colored heel in a very simple and classic style. I’m pretty picky when it comes to beading, and the beading on this shoe wasn’t cutting it. Plus, they were very tight and uncomfortable. The final result is, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

That same day I did look elsewhere, at a glittery gold peek-a-boo shoe:

Its’ glittery gold yumminess means I should definitely buy it for fun, but I don’t think it’s right for my bridal look. Back to the drawing board!

I do wish the Glass Slipper Collection shoe had worked out for one major reason though! On the bottom of each shoe is a carefully placed blue rhinestone.

So lovely and so sweet and SO SOMETHING BLUE. I’m actually having trouble with my something blue because while it’s a very popular color, I don’t feel strongly about blue. Now, “something purple” I could live with! (Note my pants in these photos.) I might end up adding my something blue to the bottom of my shoes anyway, so I just liked that they had already taken care of it!

Finally, if I were to get any shoe from the Glass Slipper Collection, I’d totally snag these Royal Pumps because they definitely give me butterflies!!

What do you think of the Cinderella-inspired shoe? Am I being too picky? Anyone else having trouble accessorizing your bridal look?

I am completely unprepared to find shoes, I have no idea what I should even look for. Sigh.

Ah! I love those last ones! I bought “Something Bleu” shoes, and they do the same thing with the rhinestone in the bottom. I love the idea :)

Interesting to hear about the blue gemstone – I thought that was the Something Bleu trademark. I guess it’s like Louboutin and red soles.

The first pair really does look uncomfortable! But I do love the stone on the bottom – what a great touch!

I too am having some shoe trouble. I’m vegan and all the shoes I love are leather :( I may just buy a simple satin nude shoe and bedazzle it with grey, champagne and clear crystal Swarovskis.

i like the gold a lot! and yeah – you can get a blue rhinestone and glue it in any shoe – super easy.

Love that blue rhinestone one the bottom, sadly I don’t like that shoe. Hopefully you can find the perfect shoe for you, those last ones are fab!

I love the gold glitter! You could paint your toenails blue for your “something blue.”

Although the display is gorgeous for the Glass Slipper collection, cannot say that I am very fond of the shoes you are sporting. IMO, nothing special.
On the otherhand, the Gold Glitter ones are rockin’. Like Mrs. Treasure said, I’d be rethinking those (maybe with blue nail polish)
As for my own Wedding… I seem totally stalled on the whole “get my Bridal Look on”. Shoes are most certainly going to be an issue (“summery” Destination Wedding in winter… not sure what I’m going to end up with, as the stores all have Fall & Winter Shoes now… I sooo should have taken care of this back in July !!) Ugh.

I like the purple ones, I really do, but I’m a sucker for lace covered things ;)
The Cinderella inspired ones are cute, especially the blue rhinestone. But I don’t think I would wear them, not my style.

I love the royal pumps! Bright shoes are so much fun! For the something blue, my wedding party will be signing the bottoms of my shoes!

I had an issue finding shoes. My wedding was last weekend..finally.. and I ended up using my something old with my shoes. I was limited in what I could wear, and not just what I wanted to wear. Since my wedding was outdoors, I needed shoes that wouldn’t plunge into grass or make me break my ankle. I found a pair of nude flats and attached deco antique shoe clips. The effect was great since my wedding dress was pink.

I absolutely LOVE the last pair of shoes, but I want them in the ivory color them come in.

I just have one concern – my dress is embroidered, swarsky crystal and pearls. There is no lace on it (I really wanted lace but it looked horrible on me)

Woud it be bad to have lace on my shoes? Would they not match, or is it subtle enough?

I was very particular about my shoes. You could totally glue a blue rhinestone to the bottom of any pair of heels for your “something blue”!

@bretonvirgniia: That sounds so pretty, I say go for it!
@HeavyMetalMomma: Great idea!
@dragonlover: I’m not the best person to answer this because while I like lace, there will be nothing lace at my wedding, and since I love sticking to a theme, I won’t be mixing it into things. But since you said you love lace, then I think your shoes would be a perfect place to incorporate it!

Thanks everyone, I totally forgot I could just glue something blue onto any shoe- DUH. Good call hive.

I was SO disappointed in the DSW collection! They were really uncomfortable and looked cheap. I ended up buying designer shoes and don’t regret it at all! It was worth every penny to have well made (and comfortable!) shoes on for the most special day of my life!

I’m a shoe girl too. I’m afraid I will be terribly indecisive when that time rolls around!

The cinderella shoes are amazing but I am sure you will find your shoe! Be patient though as it can be frustrating!
