…to continue the saga of our wedding cake:
My mom felt really bad that we wouldn’t be able to hold a pie contest at the wedding. She, too, agreed that it would be fun to do something nontraditional for dessert, although she wanted to have a wedding cake regardless. So she came up with the brilliant idea of hiring an ice cream truck to deliver sweet treats to the reception right after the cake cutting. That’s right, y’all—we’re having an ice cream truck!

We did some research into ice cream truck rentals in the Houston area, and we decided to hire Shannon of Snowdog Ice-Cream. For a pretty low cost, she will drive her truck to the venue (probably at the designated “cake cutting” time so our guests can enjoy their cake a la mode!), she will serve an ice cream for every guest, and she will play whatever music we like. The ice cream selection is great: Blue Bell ice cream sandwiches (you Southern brides will know what I’m talkin’ about!!), snow cones, cartoon character ice cream Popsicles and ice cream bars (the kids will love these!), frozen fruit bars, Choco Tacos (!!!), Skinny Cow ice cream bars, and Austin’s Organic ice cream in a wide variety of flavors. Gosh, I am drooling a tiny bit right now just typing this post. My favorite part about the ice cream truck is that Shannon lets the bride and groom serve ice cream to their guests right out of the truck! Mr. Wallaby and I can’t wait.

We just took a day trip to Brenham last week and went on the Blue Bell factory tour. The best part of course was the free scoop of ice cream. Your guests are in for quite the treat.

That was one of the things I wanted to do so badly! I am obsessed with ice cream! However, once we decided on our wedding date (November in CANADA), I had to let the dream go. It will be much too cold here for ice cream *single tear*.

Nothing official yet, but I am SERIOUSLY considering renting a well-known local donut truck to my reception. I figured what would be a better “favor” than a fresh, hot, organic donut to soak up some alcohol at the end of the night

@Shortbread: Every time we drive to Austin I beg Mr. Wallaby to stop at the Blue Bell Factory. We never have time… I’m thinking it’s going to need to be a road trip in and of itself 
@raspberry bride: Aww! With things like that, I just say, “Save it for the 5-year vow renewal!” Baha. I think Mr. W and I are going to have to have a very big second party sometime later in life to carry out all of our fun ideas we’re not going to be able to do at the wedding.

Awesome!! Everyone loves ice cream and this is such a cute idea. We had an ice cream bar but neither of us even had time to go over to it!
