Mrs. Toadstool's Picture
Mrs. Toadstool, Obregon, Mexico Age and Occupation: 23, Research Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Sales Manager Engagement Date: October 1, 2011 Wedding Date: December 2012 Venue: Hacienda los Agaves About Me: I’m a born and bred Mexican girl with a severe coffee addiction, an obsession for books and an aversion for exercise. I like to plan things, so this wedding’s my dream project---I just need to remind myself from time to time that I’m the bride and not just the planner. I recently realized brown’s my favorite color as I was trying to incorporate it in every aspect of our wedding and I'm dreaming of an autumn vibe since we don’t have that around here. I’m marrying my best friend and partner in crime on the day of our nine-year anniversary! He’s an awesome, smart, fun guy who is patient, and crazy enough to spend the rest of his life with me. We’re planning our not-so-dreamy dream wedding in December in a non-traditional way and making it our own.

On Registering…

November 7th, 2012 @ 3:34 pm by Mrs. Toadstool

We made a very small registry, full of stuff we really want or need and we will eventually buy either way.

We registered at a kind of fancy-pants national store. One of the main reasons for us to register there were the advantages the store gave us. Every time someone buys something using our registry number (no matter if it’s in our list or not), we get 10% of that purchase in store credit, which will be very useful along the way. So we figured, even if no one gets us anything from the registry, we might buy them ourselves and get a very nice 10% credit we wouldn’t got otherwise.

We made a small registry, just a few things we want (and think we need), but it didn’t start that way. Mr. Toadstool wanted to have fun with the scanner, and knowing I could erase all the crazy things he’ll scan, I let him go crazy:

Miss T: Why would you get a boat?
Mr T: It’s a cool boat.
Miss T: Where will you put that boat?

Mr T: In the tub.
Miss T: We don’t have a tub, we don’t even have space for a tub.
Mr T: but it has black sails! [Scans it]

Yep, I erased the boat.

Tools, because I need him to work in the house.

Look at that smile!

I am actually very excited about this one! We’ve been talking about getting an Xbox Kinect for quite a while, so even if no one gifts it to us (which I think is what will happen), we’ll buy it.

Other than that, we got pretty standard things: a blender, pans and pots, a big fan (because we live in a very hot place), a vacuum cleaner (I don’t know why, but I really want a vacuum cleaner), a mixer…

We stayed away from things like fancy plates and silverware, because honestly, when on earth am I going to use them? I’d rather get very nice useful ones that I’ll use every day.

Did you let your FI/Husband scan some fun stuff? Did you spend a lot of time erasing goofy things?

*Excuse the blurry pictures. I was trying to snap the shot before he had time to hide.

This is actually on our to-do list. We have done so much of he hard planning things like finding the venues and such that we haven’t gotten to the best part..picking gifts that we would love.
We are planning on moving in together once we get married and we both have our own household items so we are going to have to consolidate but getting new things are going to be fun too!!

Aw that sounds fun, glad Mr. T got into it! Anything to get the guys excited about “Wedding,” right? That’s nice that you’ll get rewards back from the store, too!

I love that he scanned a boat. I definitely think you could find *somewhere* for it. ;)

When MrN & I originally did our registry (we’ve since cancelled it since we’re eloping/having a super small intimate wedding this Saturday) he thought it’d be hilarious to scan some stuff I hadn’t approved (I had to use the washroom, not to future brides DO NOT leave your man alone with a scanner gun!!!).
We had 2 rolls of duct tape, a propane tank for a BBQ (we don’t have a BBQ) and a garage door opener (we live in an apartment).
Needless to say I erased them but he thought it was hilarious!

I’m glad MrT got into it with you and had fun!! P.S. A Xbox Kinect is an AWESOME registry idea!

Mr. T sounds like my FI when we were registering! I guess that is what made it so much fun :)

When we registered my husband would go “we don’t need a toaster…I don’t eat toast” and I’d respond with “well your wife loves toast *scans*” LOL! And the best was when I scanned our mixer and other various baking things. After awhile I’d scan random things and tell him I needed it so I could make him cheesecake. And he just nodded happily like gimme cheesecake. He scanned some stuff too hahaha

@superduperbrit: Mr T actually scaned a lot of bake supplies, because I don’t have any and he loves my cookies, but the store is very expensive and I really think we can just cross the border and get the same ones for a better price in the US, but still it was very cute.
@Miss Panda: Well, our house is small and he doesn’t even like boats, if it was something I knew he really want I’d let him, but it was just the heath of the moment ;)
