Pretty Little Wedding Shoes

November 7th, 2012 @ 4:02 pm by Mrs. Wallaby

Hive, let’s talk about wedding shoes! My shoe collection is definitely not of Carrie Bradshaw proportions, but nonetheless, I do love me some shoes. I wear heels most days to work, and I like to play dress-up when Mr. Wallaby and I go out and wear some nice heels that don’t get much mileage in my conservative workplace. So wearing heels to the wedding—at least during the ceremony—is a given.

When it comes to shoes, I’m not too picky about the designer. I will happily wear a cute pair of $20 wedges from Target. But when I started looking at wedding blogs, I became crazy about one pretty little pair of shoes: Badgley Mischka’s Randall heels.

However, those heels cost way more than I have ever spent on shoes, and I felt uncomfortable taking up so much of the budget to buy a fancy pair of shoes. So I started stalking eBay, preownedweddingdresses.com, and Recycled Bride until a pair of Randalls became available in my size. They were silver, which matches the beading on my dress, and they had only been worn once—by another bride, no less. The best part was the price: less than half the cost of buying the same shoes new. So I bit the bullet and ordered the shoes, and a week later these arrived on my doorstep:

I love that I’m able to recycle something from another bride, and I may resell them myself after the wedding! I’m a little worried about dancing in the heels, though—Mr. W and I act like goofballs on the dance floor and I don’t want to be stepping on his toes. I developed a crush on a certain pair of flats to wear for the reception:

Again, those shoes were way out of my price range. But, the story has a happy ending—I found a pair of flats from DSW that look just like Vera Wang’s pretty shoes for a fraction of the cost!

I can’t wait to wear those flats on our honeymoon—and as soon as we return to real life too. The hard part is resisting the urge to wear them between now and the wedding.

Did you splurge on your wedding shoes or did you hunt for a bargain?

Just ordered a pair of BMs as my very first wedding purchase. They are GORGEOUS! But sadly do not fit my chubby short feet. I’m crushed but happy that I’ve decided to be smart about footwear. No one can see it much and those beauties would certainly ruin my night. :(

@NCSUchick27: Sweet!
@mssmiley: Aw that does sound like a lot of criteria to fulfill! I haven’t heard of the Lyndees but just Googled them… gorgeous! I am a sucker for wedges, they’re an easy way to get a few extra inches while staying really comfortable.
@FoolsintheRain: I heard about the flats from the Bee too! So much helpful advice here ;)
@bluebelle23: I have fairly wide feet too and can totally commiserate too. I force them into narrow and regular shoes, lol – I am pretty tough on my feet and tend to put fashion over function. But I totally agree, you should find a pair of shoes that you’ll be ok in all night, because your wedding will be a lonnggg day!
@Almost Mrs.P: Ugh I love them in purple too!! You should check eBay ;)

Badgley Mischka’s Randee sandals have been my dream wedding shoes for as long as I can remember. Several months ago, I found them in my size, on sale for only $50!! Needless to say, I snatched them up. ;)

Ohhh. Those flats are gorgeous and always take my breath away. I could never find the designer on Pinterest. Thanks for sharing with me! I bought my shoes on 6pm.com, a partner of Zappos but clearance. I didn’t go with a high heel at. I have had a knee surgery and ever since my body doens’t agree with heals for too long. However, I am very short (5’1″) so I wanted a little height on my wedding day. I also wanted my shoes to be purple so I could take those adorable shoe photo opps everyone is doing now. I also am getting married outside and didn’t want to worry about heals digging into the dirt. So I ulimately decided on a wedge peep toe 1.5″ heal–in purple. My shoes are gorgeous but I always wanted flats to have just in case. I may try to find your affordable version of the Vera flat up top. Thanks for sharing!

I wore the randalls and let me tell you, they are beautiful but uncomfortable and I wear high high heels everyday. I too had a pair of dancing flats and thank goodness!

The randalls are dreamy! I wore them in blue and adored how they photographed and looked! The added height was much appreciated too :) The flats are adorable and will be much needed for dancing, those heels are definitely too high after awhile…Congrats on your find!
