My wiener dog with an attitude problem and lazy basset hound are my constant source of entertainment. He's a hunter and I like cooking so it's not rare to see wild game on our dinner menu. Both of us were born and raised in a small historic farming town where our feet are still firmly planted. We have been together for nearly a decade and have shared many life experiences together, including birthdays that are only one day apart. We are two old souls that are creating our long-awaited wedding with loads of tradition that blends our two styles into rustic elegance in the foothills of Northern California.

We Do(e): I’ve Got So Much Honey…

November 8th, 2012 @ 12:59 pm by Mrs. Doe

…the bees envy me. But not you bees…the bees in “My Girl,” of course.

I always knew my dance with my dad would be to “My Girl” by The Temptations. That has just been “my” song for as long as I can remember. My dad was a bit more hesitant though, thinking that it has been overdone. But, the more we thought about it we realized, who cares? It is my fist and only wedding, so why does it matter? We decided to just go with it, despite a small concern that it is fairly upbeat. My mom told us just to dance around and we will be fine. Easy for her to say!

As it turns out, my mom was right. We did just dance around and get completely lost in our father daughter moment. I am glad we chose to dance to “My Girl” because it is just one of those songs that I can sing at the top of my lungs to and not care who is watching.

In almost every picture I am either laughing or singing along like some bad karaoke.

You know that quote “dance like nobody is watching?” That was totally me during our father daughter dance. I had a blast, and for just a few minutes on my wedding day I was suddenly transported back in time to dancing in my socks with my dad in the living room.

What do you have planned for your father daughter dance? If you are already married, what song did you choose for your father daughter dance?

We foxtrot to Jack Johnson

We admire the ruffled cake

Toasting time with a few good laughs

Dinner with a light drizzle

A Sweet Entry

A funny photo and bridal party pictures

The rain irritates me and we take photos

Over ten years go by and we get married

The birds and the weather join us

We promise to laugh

We journey down the aisle

The ceremony begins

The bridesmaids share a view out the window

The boys shake their nerves and take photos

The girls take photos

I show you my magical flowers

I talk about my whipped cream dress

The girls have fun getting glam

We get our hair done and grub down on some food delivered by dad

I’m so envious of all you relaxed dancing brides! Haha! You two look so happy.

We did Brown Eyed Girl, by Van Morrison, for nearly exactly the same reasons. And Dad and I cut a rug and sang along and brought down the house!
