We decided Summer 2012 that we better start taking some pictures. A friend of mine from high school is incredibly talented with a camera, and was starting her own wedding photography business, so we took her up on her offer to shoot us! Because Lake Grapevine is beautiful and Mr. Manatee’s family has a boat there, we decided it would be a fun and unique place to shoot. I was also inspired by adorable (and lets face it, super fratty) pictures such as these.

So, off we went to Grapevine Lake. I had been stressing about what to wear, besides our Sperrys (of course), but my mom came through at the last second and pull the perfect breezy white linen top out of her closet. I got a bit cheesy with an anchor necklace, but it doesn’t show up in any of the pictures. I feel like our pictures were perfectly on theme with our inspiration, and I couldn’t be happier!

Did you take care to involve an important part of your lives in your engagement shoot?
Love the pictures! I love that photojournalism has spread to engagement photos also so you can be more “realistic” than standing in front of a photo backdrop.
We actually had three locations for our pictures– a really pretty park for the “dressy/formal” ones, then the coffeehouse where we “re-met” and the sports bar (sigh- we’re in the South) where Andrew has been cheering on his Falcons since 2005 and I’ve joined since 2011.

These are SO FREAKING CUTE. I’m obsessed. But to answer your question – we did 2 engagement shoots (one was a Groupon deal, the other was by a friend), and while the first one was more us picking a random location, the second was done at our local farmer’s market that we used to hit up every weekend (more like once a month now). It’s fun to have those special memories!
Adorable! My husband and I just did an anniversary shoot on a yacht (in our wedding duds) and it was so much fun!
