We’ve played around with a few color schemes. Some with pink as the fifth color, some with coral, one with green. But the blues have always been the ’base’ of our color scheme. Blue is my absolute favorite color, and given half a chance I’d paint every wall in our apartment a different shade. Blue is Mr. Manatee’s second favorite color, first being green (check out that second color scheme!). But truth be told, the fifth color is not as important…yet. If it were up to me, we’d only be doing the blues, gray and glitter (!!!).

So pretty!

In a perfect world! But our slightly pushy florist insists we need CONTRAST. We’re still hammering out the details of that elusive contrast color, but what we do know for sure is the ombre/watercolor theme we have going. I was initially worried Mr. Man wouldn’t be on board with the ombre idea, but he actually really liked it once I’d shown him some pictures! His words were “as long as everything is not bright pink.” What a blessing to have such creative license ;) . I posted my inspiration board that I sent to my lovely Canadian aunt (who is doing our invites) on Weddingbee a few months ago. As other bloggers, and my favorite fictional character Robin Cherbotski, have mentioned before, it seems to take a little while for wedding (or any) trends to hit Canada.

Anyway, ignore the purple in the picture, I’m mostly looking at theme. But aren’t these ombre blues to die for?

What do you think for our elusive contrast color? Pink? Green? Maybe even yellow? Who knows!

I had to hold myself back from having an all-blue wedding because blue is my favorite color. My concern was going too overboard and/or not being able to use my favorite shades, so I decided to go the opposite direction and go with orange instead! :)

I think the green will look great and incorporate Mr. Manatee’s favorites into the colors as well! (I could be biased though, since we have a navy&sage green wedding – blue is my fave and green is his!)

Pink also works well, and we’ll be using that because I HAVE to have pink roses in my bridal bouquet (such a spoiled ‘zilla I am!)

Your florist may be right in asking for more contrast, esp if you’re doing floral centerpieces and colored tablecloths or linens – linens come in blue, and flowers come in blue, and they might run together visually if blue is all you can see?

Just my opinion! I love all the variations you came up with – I’m sure you’ll be able to find one that’s fitting for you!

Those are my colours too… and as my “contrast” colour recommended by my florist, I am torn between a green, and a pale peach.

I still can’t decide yet! Best of luck!

I have to say, as a Canadian… ombre is huge here. And we are usually really close to being on trend all the time. The metropolis cities are always on trend, but the rural areas aren’t as much. Do you mean to tell me that ALL of the US is super trendy and on board with all things modernand new? As a blogger for a wedding website that hosts international people, you really need to be sensitive about posts like these.

I like just the blue and grey – why do you need contrast?

I’m a trendy Canadian and I live in the middle of nowhere! :P

I love the icy blues and glitter, and I might be biased because of my own wedding colours but I think the yellow looks great!

I like the peach/coral colour that is on part of your inspiration board. I think it looks great with silver/grey glitter! x

Maybe a hint of yellow and green? Since you’re having a summer wedding, including hints of yellow flowers and lush greenery would be easy and budget-friendly.

Our main colors are a deep blue (navy) and a light blue (aquamarine – our birth stones!) and our accents (or contrasts) will be shades of yellow, pink and gray/silver. Nothing too strong or overdone, just little hints of them everywhere – for instance, our flower girls’ tutu skirts are navy and pink, we’re using gray/silver and yellow on our invitations.

Looking at your provided choices, I really like the green. I think it adds just the right amount of ‘pop’ that would really come through in pictures!

I love the green, but I am biased since that is my favorite color :) Honestly, I don’t think you need another color, the blues and grays looks beautiful!

I love the blues, greys, and silvers… And that there’s a tumblr for Robin Sparkles! I think a pop of green would be a nice but subtle way to incorporate another color… It’s so natural and will be in your florals already.

I actually like the idea of having all blues. While some might think you’re having a lot of the same, I think that gives endless possibilities.

Oh an trends take a lot of time to get to Mexico too, I still get weird looks when I mention I’m not wearing white shoes and even more weird looks when I mention it is actually a trend.

@anon: @Mrs. Dragon: Oh no! I didn’t mean to offend anyone, I was just playing off the HIMYM joke. I myself am a Canadian citizen, so I probably give myself more liberty to tease than I probably should :( I by no means think that the US is always the trendiest, after all, isn’t fashion week always held in Paris? I apologize!!

Thanks for all your support for the all blue theme!! But the votes for the green are great suggestions as well!

@Miss Manatee: Oh, no, I thought it was funny!! Trends DO take longer to get here of my mail service is any indication. ;)

And now we’re being stereotypically Canadian and apologizing all over, haha.

Seriously jealous of your inspiration board and color squares. I’m so bad at that stuff! Love the glitter especially, and my vote is for pink or green as the final accent color!

I love the watercolor look as well and just designed my own STDs using a set of free Photoshop brushes I found online! My color scheme is shades of aqua, turquoise, and teal but haven’t thought about an accent color yet. Maybe gold?

I’d say keep it all blue, or use green since it’s his fave color.
