The invitations have been a bear for me…I’ve been in bit of an inspiration rut. I know I want them to match our save the date; I love when all wedding related paper matches, but of course this also puts some constraints on the design. I want to incorporate at least two, if not all, of the following:
I didn’t have any trouble with the wording or anything, but have had the toughest time figuring out the formatting. You see, I wanted something different. Something with folds and pockets and stamps and embossing and brads and…well, you get the picture. With my mom’s ability to craft—and the fact that we’re completely DIYing—I truly feel like the sky’s the limit and started searching in earnest for unique formatting inspiration.

I like this accordion style, and the pocket at the end is an unexpected addition. I also like the ribbon and we could watercolor where they use fabric.

On first glance, this seems pretty simple—flap and a pocket—but there’s actually two pockets, and I could do something a little more interesting than that chevron cut.

I don’t even think I can explain what is going on here, but it’s certainly different.
I THINK we have finally come up with a plan that we like, but it’s been tough to get there. Basically, I want most of the visual interest to lie with the way the invitation itself is constructed, not necessarily with the words/images on the paper. Is this weird? Did anyone else approach their paper products this way?

My only issue with the square invites was the extra postage! Ugh. We stuck with the traditional shape/size and splurged on other elements.
Love your inspiration, I love different invitations! That accordion one is probably my favorite though 
I totally get you. I saw a booklet invitation early in my planning process, and from there I was done. I knew that’s what I wanted, and it was (eventually) what I ended up with.
I had a love hate relationship with invitations. So many options were overwhelming, I wanted it all.
I like the accordion one, it’s different.
