Little Details

One little detail that I just had to incorporate into our wedding day was customized cocktail napkins! Over the months, I had seen so many cute images of how couples had made their day even more personal by including custom napkins, that I knew I wanted to do so as well!

I wasn’t sure what exactly was going to be printed on the Beanstalk napkins or what color (teal or orange), but being the total DIY bride that I am, I did know that I was going to be the one creating them! Like so many other bees before me (Mrs, Cupcake, Mrs. Cloud, & Mrs. Cream Puff to name a few), I decided to Gocco my napkins. I had the Gocco (remember I bought it to print our paper goods?!) and tons of extra supplies, so I knew it could be done! As it usually goes with the Gocco, it was going to be a fairly easy, yet time consuming project (you must first create your screen, print it, make a carbon copy, burn the screen, ink the screen and then print your little heart out).

I put off creating the napkins for awhile (I had other projects to tackle first…like the invitations)! In that time that I was doing other wedding related things, I discovered some amazing cocktail napkins at BHLDN! They had fun patterns and came in different colors (teal being one)! I thought that they were so cute and fit with our wedding theme, so I bought several packages of each pattern in the teal.

Even though I bought printed cocktail napkins, I still wanted to create my own. Now that I had teal napkins, I decided to DIY orange ones (that was an easy decision)! I bought a package of 150 napkins from Amazon and got to work on my design. I decided to keep it simple and went with a cute little quote that we used throughout the paper goods. I then added our names and wedding date and I was done!

The simple design I created for our napkins.

After making my printout and running to Staples to make a carbon copy, I was ready to print my napkins! Once I started printing, the process didn’t take too long, it just was very repetitive and left my home looking like this:

I was beyond happy with the result and thought that they turned out great! I did create another design, which included pumpkins, but when I stamped the napkin, the pumpkin just didn’t look like one, so I decided to keep it simple with my simple text only design! The next two images are a bit grainy because they were taken with my iPhone.

Yes, I actually Photoshoped all of the napkins to remove our names!

Another way to achieve this same fun DIY cocktail napkin look is with a rubber stamp! Find a cute stamp you like or that represents your love or wedding theme/look, buy some napkins and stamp your heart out! The great thing is, you can really get creative with napkin color/stamp pad color combos! And if you love custom napkins but don’t have time, The Knot offers a HUGE selection of semi-customized cocktail napkin that you can buy! Sister Beanstalk told me about this option, after I had already bought the orange napkins, otherwise I might have snagged some up because they really do offer a great selection of designs and colors!

Anyone else go crazy over cocktail napkins? Did you buy or DIY them?

My MOH did stamped napkins for my tea– she just bought cute napkins online and stamped a “B” (my married initial) on the corner. Bonus- I have all of the extras! I love them.

God I love this. I think I’m slow. You made a carbon copy and then ran them through a gocco?

I too am a sucker for personalized napkins!!! I love the way yours came out!!!!

I bought at least 400 cocktail napkins at Ikea (cheappppp!) and a rubber stamp with a cute “Happily ever after” banner and stamped away, it was one of the easiest DIY projects I did for our wedding. I love all of the small details, they make a wedding so personal!

Oh and PS: I adore those BhLDN napkins. I hope you have a few leftover for fancy dinners with the hubs or for your next dinner party :)
