After making a million flowers, I needed to take those flowers and make them into useful things like boutonnieres, bouquets, centerpieces, etc., etc.

Though I had seen a lot of gorgeous boutonnieres, I knew I really liked the simple flower-based ones. I didn’t want to make them too complicated because, frankly, that would involve buying lots of little scraps that I wouldn’t know what else to DIY with.

I took a flower that I had previously made to make simple ones for the boys.

I had three different color flowers so I decided that PBear would wear the pink one (due to his fondness for pink), the groomsmen would wear the peach ones, and our dads would wear the white ones. I messed around with it a bit for about 20 minutes, and this is what I came up with.

I’m not sure this even needs a tutorial, but here you go.

Supplies

• Fake flowers
• Floral wire (I’ve found though that paddle wire tends to be a little cheaper, though.)/ floral tape
• Glue gun/glue sticks
• Pin backing
• Optional: anything you want to attach (I used leaves from fake flower bushes I found at the dollar store.)

I took four wires that I wrapped together to create a thicker wire. In retrospect, I probably should have just used a thicker rod, or the stem of the fake flowers I used, but whatever. I then wrapped the wire with floral tape.

Tip with floral tape: it’s nothing like the tape that you would normally expect or typically work with. The key to using it it to stretch out the tape or to warm it up with your fingers. The stickiness comes from heating up the wax until it sticks to itself. It’s definitely not my favorite thing to work with, but gosh, it’s so pretty.

I removed the stem of the fake flower, and popped the plastic parts off of the leaves. I glued the stem onto the back of the flower and then glued the leaf on top of that to cover up the excess glue.

I then glued a pin to the back of the flower so the boys wouldn’t have to fidget with a corsage pin.

Tada! Simple, right?

I’m not sure if I want to do corsages or bouts for our moms, but overall this project hasn’t been nearly as intimidating as I had been making it out to be. (I will say, I am in love with Mrs. Potion’s corsages, so we might go that route.) Now if only I could say the same thing about the bouquets.

What do people think? Is it missing something? Should I stop worrying about it and just let it be?
