We’ve picked a rehearsal dinner location! Yay! We finally got the contract signed and now I can tell y’all all about it.
It didn’t really take as long as I was worried it would take. After two somewhat fail attempts to find a restaurant within close proximity to our venue, we decided to branch out to any restaurant within public transportation of Boston that would be able to fit 16 to 20 people in a private room.
We originally thought to take people to the North End, the little Italy of Boston. There really isn’t anything more iconic to Boston than that area. I was thinking of our standard restaurant, Panza—yup, the same restaurant that the Treasures went to on their honeymoon. However, the restaurants in the area also tend to be small, and given the number of gluten-free, dairy-free people, it seemed like a bad idea to have pasta.

We also thought about Chinese, especially since our reception dinner doesn’t have anything very Asian on it, but again, it didn’t really seem to work.
In all of this search, there was one place that I really, really liked and kept coming back to. What place was this?
EVOO. EVOO, short for extra virgin olive oil, is a great restaurant in Kendall Square. If it sounds familiar to you, it’s because we went there for our engagement dinner. Yes, like Miss Gray Wolf, we are having our rehearsal dinner at the same place we had our engagement dinner.
It’s a great restaurant with an amazing and varied menu that will hopefully satisfy the most picky of our guests. They specialize in American food made with local ingredients. Their sister restaurant Za is our regular pizza place. (You have to try their salmon caper pizza—seriously to die for.)
Out of all of the restaurants we looked into, EVOO was also one of the most affordable. Win win. I’m really excited that it seemed to work out so easily.
The current plan is to have appetizers for a cocktail hour. Then we’ll move to a plated but limited three-course menu, and possibly bring out our bear cake then too.

They rotate their menu around so we won’t get to choose it until a few days before, but that’s OK with me. Everything I’ve had there has always been absolutely delicious. I think everyone will be able to find something they like.
