*Drumroll Please…*

I love organization. If my closet space allowed it, I would hang everything (in order of length and color within length, of course). Unfortunately, this particular closet doesn’t allow me my fair share of hanging space, so instead I’ve had to *shudder* fold some of my stuff. I’ll come clean—not having to fold things is the main priority in hanging clothes. It’s much more difficult to color coordinate when things are folded…sigh.

Anyway, when it came time to think about a hanger for one of the most significant pieces of clothing I’ll ever wear, it was obvious I was going to get something special. (OK, so wire hangers have been done a lot, but that doesn’t make them any less special to me!)

There were so many options…

The thought process here was that I’ve always said I’ll only get married once; therefore, I would only be a bride once. Shouldn’t I get the bride hanger to enjoy the title for the day?

For this hanger, I loved that it included the date, a heart, and a special flower detail at the top. What made me decide this wasn’t the one was that my dress has some intricate details, so I didn’t want to take away from the dress too much by having a ton going on with the hanger.

Again with the hearts—I love them! What changed my mind about this one was that it would be the full date. I’m not a huge fan of odd numbers, so having that three at the end made me a little less likely to choose something with our date on it.

At the end of the search, I think it was pretty obvious to me (and anyone who knows me well ;) ) which hanger I would go with. The classic Mrs. HisLastName. I’m ecstatic to change my name, so it didn’t come as too much of a shock that I would choose the last-name hanger.

Yes! My hanger, custom made by Amber at MyAmberColouredWorld. I was very back and forth on whether I should capitalize the letters or not but eventually decided not to, and finally placed my order. A few weeks later, my hanger was on the way, and now it’s displayed in our bedroom just waiting for the big day. ;)

Did you get a custom hanger for your dress?

Mine is on it’s way as we speak, I found a great cyber monday deal on etsy for one so I can’t wait till it’s here. It’s quite awhile before I get married so I’ll have to keep it tucked away

I love your hanger, it’s great! :D I’m not buying a special hanger only because my mom made mine and it’s been on a dress form and we’ll likely just bring the dress form to the church (it’s beautiful, too, and will photograph well), but if I wasn’t, I’d probably get a pretty hanger!!

I did order one, and am so happy I did.. it’s sitting in a box right now, but will one day hold my dress! I opted for purple wire and a purple bow to match everything else.. I’m OCD about matching ;) I think they make for great photos & are a great keepsake!

I wasn’t going to buy one, but a seller on Etsy recently had them at $4.99+shipping, and at that pricepoint I was eager to buy. I DID consider the “Bride” hanger but decided against it. Since I’ll only be a bride once, and I want to use this hanger forever I decided to just go with Mrs. X. I’ll be selling the dress after the wedding, so I’ll be using this hanger for whatever my “special dress” of the moment is.

@kaw2be: I got the same deal, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have done it. What’s fun is that I got one that just says “bride” and plan to give it to my BFF who just got engaged!!

I did the last name hanger, with the date above it. Cherry wood with silver wire. My dress has a beautiful jade colored detail, and I was worried any other colors might now work.

I absolutely love it! I peek in the closet every now and then to make sure it’s still there, hehe! In less than 10 days, my beautiful dress will be hanging on that hanger in preparation of our wedding. Wow, can’t wait!

Oooh I just snagged that $4.99 deal on etsy too! The sale is still valid until she sells out :)

I’ve been eyeballing these also. I also have a diy bug, so have been thinking about doing something… I have no idea. Just talked to my mom about coming up with a crochet pattern that works on hangers. She’s crocheting my garter for the wedding so I’m hoping i can do something fun with a hanger and the same yarn to hang my dress on.

It’s so cute! I went for the ‘bride’ because my dad was making it for me and I wanted to keep it easy for him :)

@Miss Gray Wolf: SAME HERE! I actually just thought about this not too long ago, how hard it was for me to get over it. I can’t stand odd numbers that aren’t 5′s (which seem even to me, even though I know they’re not? Ah, OCD, so mysterious) so it drives me NUTS to write ’2013′ associated with our wedding. I try to avoid it whenever possible.

I’m making my own last name hanger! And making them for my bridesmaids and flower girl (first names) as well! It’s easier than it looks, but has been a little time consuming making all the letters look the same. I’m excited to give them to my bridesmaids as a surprise, and to have a picture of all the dresses together!
