Oh hi. I’m Mrs. Fox, and I’m finally ready to continue with and finish off my recaps. About freaking time.
If you’re new around these parts and are wondering who the heck I am…well, I’m just a bee who got married in June, started her recaps a few months later, got terribly busy with, you know, life, and then stopped recapping. I know. I suck.
But I’m back (just in time for our six month anniversary…how the heck did that happen?). I’m so super excited to share the rest of our wedding with you, and if you want to get caught up/read more about our story so far…check out the links at the bottom of this post!!
So here we go—back to recaps, starting with family photos!
Let’s be honest: I totally love getting my picture taken. I’m a photo hussy, for sure.
On the flip side, one thing I’ve learned about myself throughout my life is that I definitely have a “picture threshold.” This usually only happens during big events—the ones that come to mind are my First Communion, prom, and high school/college graduation—you know, the times when you pretty much have to be in front of the camera for an extended amount of time. It’s all fun and games for the first few minutes, but the time inevitably comes when you’re just done with it and just want it to be over. You can absolutely tell when I get affected by said picture threshold, because I really don’t hide it very well. I can’t even tell you how miserable I look in half of my First Communion pictures.
Anyway, my point is, I originally assumed that I would be adding “wedding” to that list, especially after family photos. Fortunately, that didn’t end up being quite the case, but I’ll be honest and say that ish definitely stressed me out at points. Now please don’t get me wrong—I love my entire family and I will forever treasure the pictures we ultimately took with each and every one of them. But, yea…it was a lot of pictures. And while I wouldn’t put it quite to the level of First Communion grumpiness, I still felt myself getting antsy on the inside, for sure.
Just think of it logistically: we had to get all these pictures taken before the ceremony and we had to do every combination you could possibly think of. That just sounds stressy to me. Fortunately, the organizer in me thought ahead and had three lists ready to go for our photographers—family with me, family with Foxy, and family with the both of us. And really, it ended up going by pretty speedy and smoothly (with much thanks to our photogs, Laura and Alisa)!

Foxy and his family, including SIL Shannon and Brother Groomsman
Foxy and Brother Groomsman…just a bit of family resemblance, no?
I will forever love this picture—the only one of me grown up, with both my mom and dad.
One-on-ones with Foxy Mama & Pops.
Foxy with his our! nephew, Ty and niece, Syd—this picture totally embodies their amazing and hysterical relationship, I love it!
With my seriously awesome step-sibs, Mac & CJ.
Eeeeeeerry’body!
From left to right: stepsibs Mac & CJ, my stepmom, Foxy Pops, my stepdad, Foxy Mama, {us} Foxy’s mom and dad, nephew Ty, niece Syd, Brother Groomsman, SIL Shannon, and BIL Matt.
So all in all, family pictures went much better than I thought they would. Huzzah!
Although…I have one small disclaimer: during this whole process, I started getting really hot. I was feeling anxious. I needed something to drink and to eat, but nothing was around. I also thought that we’d take more pictures with the bridal party, but we didn’t so they just ended up sitting around for 45 minutes, which I felt terrible about. Oh, and remember how I said that my dress zipped up a bit too easily earlier in the day? Well, I’m sure you guessed it…it decided that it did not want to cooperate and started sliding down. In fact, that whole debacle began before bridal party pictures even started. So in between every photo, I was hiking up the dress (so attractive) (not really), fanning my armpits, trying to stay calm, and dealing with bangs that just did not want to cooperate. All these little, trivial things that, when added up, made me an unhappy camper for a few moments. {So…family…if I was grumpy towards you, I’m sorry!}
Why even mention any of this? Well, 1: because it’s true, and 2: because I still randomly think about it, and how I felt, when I look at some of these photos. I’m hoping that my in-the-moment feelings will subside with time, but for now, I still associate a lot of the family photos with being uncomfortably hot, stressed, and just wanting to get back to the venue to figure out the dress situation. Thus, “picture threshold” was partially reached.
Geez, I can be a total unintentional buzzkill, huh?! So here’s a series of pictures documenting stepsis Mac freaking out because she thought a bug flew into her eye, which caused quite the uproar mid-photoshoot.
Step one: BUG!!!
Step two: What?!
Step three: UGH damn bugs.
The end.
Do you have any experience with said “picture threshold”? Please tell me I’m not the only antsy pants out there when it comes to pictures!
Miss a recap? Catch yourself up!
It’s Wedding Week! – The week of the wedding started out pretty hectic, but we made it through (relatively) unscathed.
We’re Cool People (who had to deal with a slight change of plans) – On Friday, we made our way to the venue, had a relatable moment on the radio, and learned about some last minute changes that we made an effort to take in stride.
Practice Makes Perfect.. And Crabs Don’t Hurt, Either – After most everyone was settled in on Friday evening, we had our rehearsal followed by the best dinner ever – a Maryland crab feast!
Rise and Shine! – Wedding morning was soon upon us, and I woke up at the crack of dawn ready to get prettified.
Pretty Women – Over the course of the next several hours, myself and the girls hung out, got our hair and makeup done, had a photo shoot, and drank champagne.
Dressing Up – Soon enough, it was time for me to slip into my dress!
Dapper Dudes – At the same time, Foxy and his guys were ironing and getting into their suites – and Foxy was opening his wedding day gift!
The First of Many Looks – We had our first look, and both felt so much better after being able to see each other for the first time that day.
A School Bus Photoshoot – Our vehicle of choice for the day was a school bus, which we turned into a photo op both inside and out!
Smiles and Sun – The photos continued by the lighthouse and pier.. with sunglasses and a few funny stories along the way.
