Mrs. Otter, Indianapolis, IN Age and Occupation: 22, Freelance Social Media Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, CVS Shift Supervisor Engagement Date: November 11, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2013 Venue: Mustard Seed Gardens About Me: I'm a born and raised Hoosier girl, but a diehard Michigan Wolverines fan. I have a tendency to take too many photos and spend full days having TV marathons. Mr. Otter and I met in high school, started dating a couple years later, and moved in after a month of being official. He is easygoing and makes plans on a whim, while I'm color coordinating my planner and organizing everything in sight. He hates glitter, but it's my favorite thing. I have tattoos and he still won't get one, despite my attempts to convince him. We're planning a small, rustic, and (hopefully!) peony-filled wedding to get our married life started. (And yes, there will be glitter involved!)

Mr. Otter Has a Ring…

December 13th, 2012 @ 9:25 am by Mrs. Otter

…that he can’t wear until April and even though he’d probably rather I didn’t share publicly, he was super pouty about it when he got it and couldn’t wear it. I can’t blame him—I want to wear my band already and I have an engagement ring! But it was still pretty funny. ;)

In my first post talking about the Mr.’s ring, I showed a few different styles that we didn’t love, and two that we did. Not surprisingly, Mr. O decided on a ring that was one of the two I used for my post.

Shopping for his ring was surprisingly simple. We went in to the jewelry store, looked around for approximately five to ten awkward minutes waiting on someone to be available to help us, and then finally looked at a few different rings. While he did try on both the lighter and darker alternatives, he ultimately decided to go with the in between finish. Like me, Mr. O tends to get bored of things that aren’t “normal” for him after a short time, and we can’t let that happen with his wedding band!

We ordered the ring that same day and it arrived less than two weeks later. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite fit him and we had to send it back out to be sized. NOW—let me tell you, I was just waiting for him to say something about them sending it out and having to wait on it to come back in (since mine had to be sent out twice), but he’s smarter than that and didn’t make much of a comment.

It came back in again and this time, it fit perfectly! Another task to check off my list.

How long did it take you and your SO to choose their ring?

We had our bands custom made and got to pick them up this week! The funny thing is that my fiance teased me about wanting to wear mine home from the jeweler (“to make sure it fits”) and then about an hour after we got home he grabbed his “just to look at it” and wore it for awhile.

My FI is really procrastinating this particular wedding activity. I did manage to get him in the store where my rings are from to try some on but he was very picky and I haven’t gotten him to go back. He’s also being really difficult as I’d like him to get a ring from a reputable store (preferably where my rings are from because of their amazing service) but he insists that he should pay only a quarter of those prices and buy online… online like at amazon!

Two seconds. We went to where he got my e-ring, since I wanted to buy the matching band. He thought he’d try on a couple styles to see what he was into, but not buy there (since it was a very expensive store and he initially didn’t want to spend that much). But then he tried on a ring (after 5 seconds of trying on rings), liked it, bought it on the spot.

Granted my wedding band took two seconds to buy as well, the second I got my e-ring I knew what kind of ring I wanted to go with it. I took even less time than him, I just tried on the one, he tried on at least 4, haha.

Mr. Genie was very particular about his ring and did extensive research. It probably took him two weeks of hemming and hawing, trips to a couple of jewelry stores and tons of online shopping to find the right one. And we still had to slightly customize it. Crazy.
