As soon as you entered the reception space you were greeted by a small table holding our guestbook. We decided on having a Jenga guestbook because my shelves are already full of albums and scrapbooks and our walls can’t hold one more framed item. I wanted something “useful,” something that would hold a purpose other than just carrying the notes from our wedding guests. That lead us to Jenga, a board game we already owned and was a hit on game nights. It’s something we can pull out to play (reminisce) every now and then—even our kids might get to play with them.

And since I had forgotten to create a sign, I instructed the Under 21’s to make sure they wrote something when they came in so others would follow suit. I’m pleased to say we got a note from everyone at the wedding under 50 years old.

Some of them are pretty funny. One of our college friends wrote a note to our future children instructing them to be nice on the one day of the year where I’ll pull out the Wedding Jenga and make them play.

I forgot to add ” empty reception space” to the list of must have photos, but I’ll try to give you an idea of what the room looked like.

These two next cellphone photos were taken by Mami Boa the afternoon before the wedding and it shows the reception space sans flowers.

Next are the wonderful table numbers and I Spy Game that we set on each table. Apparently people liked them a lot because at the end of the reception we only had two left. The guests had taken their table numbers home!

We had two types of arrangements: the short ones were white hydrangeas with purple and white roses and some orchids in the water. Please take notice of the wonderful purple table overlay, my favorite piece of the reception decor.

The second type of arrangement was tall with white hydrangeas, purple roses and lots of orchids and white calla lilies.

Here are the Nutella with Nutella butercream cupcakes

And the Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Buttercream

The other two flavors available were Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Lemon with Vanilla Buttercream

The top tier was Red Velvet Cake and was supposed to be frozen to our anniversary, but we ate ALL of it when we came back from the honeymoon.

Our beloved Mickey and Minnie Cake topper didn’t make it onto the cake. It was way to heavy and could have toppled the whole thing over. So, it sat on the sidelines…but still looked pretty especially after Lil Boa painted the hearts on the figurine with nail polish so it would match the decor.
