Hoppily Ever After: A Teaser

December 19th, 2012 @ 7:36 am by Mrs. Wallaby

Surprise! We booked a videographer.

It was a last-minute decision, so I didn’t have a chance to blog about it.

Mr. W has always loved wedding videos. He used to watch wedding videos for fun in his spare time, before we even got engaged. (He chalks it up to a general interest in cinematography, but we all know he’s a closet romantic.) So, Mr. W was responsible for anything video related for our wedding. He took the responsibility very seriously and interviewed a lot of different Houston-area videographers. He’s very picky about style and camera angles, so for months no one made the cut. (Also, none of them fit into our meager videography budget.) Very soon before the wedding, Mr. W came across a company called A Sweet Film. He instantly hit it off with Orlando, the business owner and main videographer. Orlando was willing to work within our budget, and he promised to hand over the raw footage to Mr. W to play around with and make his own wedding video. Sold.

Orlando and his crew turned out to be awesome. They were very flexible, kept a low profile, and made me laugh all night long. They’re still working on the 10-minute highlights video, but they sent us a little teaser.

Turn down the lights, and turn up the volume: je presente le Wallaby wedding sneak peek!

This is a great video! I can’t even imagine what they’ve done for the full video. I think videos like these reassure me that for us a videographer is money well spent!

I agree with everyone else, I wish we had room in our budget for videography but we don’t. My uncle will be filming the ceremony but that’s not the same… If only I hadn’t blown the budget on everything else.

Ya’ll are too sweet!
@Shortbread: Yes! I’m glad you could squeeze one into your budget, I think it’s worthwhile – especially since videographers these days are making shorter highlight videos that are more watch-able and entertaining than 3-hour-long traditional wedding videos.
@Miss Care Bear: I can’t remember exactly, I’ll have to check with Mr. W because he booked the videographer. I think our budget was $600 for raw footage (originally Mr. W was going to make the wedding video himself), but we paid an extra $400ish for A Sweet Film to make a 10-minute highlight video.
@Brooklyn55: The ceremony is really the only part that matters – it’s really sweet that you’ll have that filmed. You could research other wedding videos and send your uncle a few of your favorites to give him some ideas of camera angles for filming your ceremony. The stylistic touches go a long way!! Mr. W and his brother are getting into filming, and a lot of it is the editing. I know what you mean, though – I had some regrets about things we couldn’t make happen once we had blown our budget on big-ticket items.
