Mrs. Cannon's Picture
Mrs. Cannon, Toledo, OH Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Assembler Engagement Date: February 28, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Epworth UMC & Ward Pavilion About Me: I'm the curious combination of being a go-with-the-flow, laid back, obsessive planner. I try desperately to stay as busy as possible at all times (and am succeeding big time right now!) My biggest loves in life are Law & Order: SVU, Community (the show, not the concept, although I like that, too), ice cream, white cheddar popcorn, beer, hiking, knitting, decorating, writing, being outside, spending time with friends and family and musical theater. Mr. Cannon is pretty sweet, too. We've had a lot of fun traveling and having adventures all over the country, but have finally moved back near our hometown to settle down. We're planning a low-key, colorful, fun wedding and an awesome-to-the-max reception.
About Mrs. Cannon

*Many apologies for going missing. Once again, school has gotten the better of me and I have had to put blogging to the side to prioritize my homework. But the semester is over, so I’m going to finish up these recaps while I’ve got the chance! If you’re new to the Cannon story, you can read our relationship recap or start at the beginning of our wedding recaps or the beginning of our wedding planning. In short, we had a rainbow wedding with a backyard barbecue feel.*

After we walked around and got our couples photos done, we did our bridal party portraits. I told everyone to get there earlier than they really needed to be there so they wouldn’t be late. (Consider that a pro tip!) So, everyone was sitting around waiting for us to show up and do pictures.

I have to say I’m kind of mixed on wedding party pictures. On one hand, it’s fun to get a bunch of pictures of you and your friends. And obviously you planned the outfits and everything and want to document that. At the same time, there’s a cheesy element to doing preplanned pictures like these. Maybe I’m just awkward at posing, but it is kind of weird to do. I do love the results, though, so I can’t complain too much.

The guys did pictures-

While chatting with our photographers, we found out that we knew quite a few of the same people, which isn’t really too surprising because the Toledo “scene” is pretty small. One of Mr. Cannon’s best friends was actually roommates with our photographer at one point! Small world.

The girls did pictures-

We also did individual pictures with each person. I won’t show you all of them, but there is one in particular that cracks me up. Machine Gun wanted to do one of those serious pictures where no one is smiling that were weirdly popular on wedding blogs at the time. We could barely keep it together long enough to not crack up doing the picture.

I wanted to make sure we got some pictures with my nephew, our little ring bearer, who did an AWESOME job.

We did some with both sides-

We did a series of these, and they were really funny. The photographer asked Mr. Cannon and I to stand at the front with my nephew. Then, she instructed everyone else to run up and hug us. As you can see, everyone really enjoyed the running up part. But not ONE SINGLE PERSON actually hugged us. They just kind of circled us. As you can tell by the picture, my nephew was pretty concerned about the surprise hugs. It was one of those things that photographers tell you to do that seems really corny, but I love that picture because everyone has a big grin. So, sometimes you just have to have faith that your photographers have an idea of what makes a fun picture.

After we were done with group shots, we all hid out in the reception hall for a little bit. That was when our photographers did our reception detail shots, and when we ate lunch. It was also the time of my most shameful moment of my wedding day (which means I will never forget it. I hate how that works.)

My mom had at some point asked everyone for an order and gone out to Subway to pick up lunch. However, she never asked me for an order, so I didn’t have anything to eat.

I gave my mom a hard time about it. I didn’t go “crazy bridezilla,” but I FELT like I did. I probably went more “childish whining” to be honest. But I did have that negative moment.

And that is embarrassing to me, because my mom is really so awesome and went above and beyond for me for this wedding (and my entire life, really) so I feel like a giant douche for being short with her on my wedding day. But, I had been too nervous to eat all day, and now that everything had come together and everyone had shown up, my nerves were gone and I was STARVING.

In a truly best man worthy act, our best man gave me his sandwich. I would have felt guilty about this, but honestly, our best man pretty much never eats, so I don’t know if he would’ve eaten the sandwich anyway. He’s the only person I’ve ever met in my life that I’ve thought might actually not like food.

After eating, pretty much everyone had a beer or two before the wedding, except for me. I was too worried about succumbing to the “Asian glow” before the wedding even started and being red in all my pictures. (And no, I’m not Asian, but Mrs. Tartlet wrote up such a good post on this phenomenon that I figured I’d just link to her write-up, and that’s how she refers to it.) My version of this is COMPLETELY unpredictable. I can have half a beer and be bright red or an entire six pack with nothing. So, I played it safe and didn’t have anything alcoholic to drink until after the ceremony and most of the picture-taking was done.

After the beers, it was back to church for the ceremony…

Anyone else have a bridezilla moment (no matter how small) that tainted their day? I’m pretty sure I will never stop feeling bad about it.

I hear you on Bridal party pics. During ours, the photographer kept trying to get them to do silly things and a lot of the pictures are cute but there are a good share with “hover hands” and almost hugs….

Ha, I love photographers’ suggestions! So random and bizarre, but they produce awesome photos! My photog told my bridesmaids to all grab each others’ butts, and it turned out to be one of my favorite pictures. :)

Great. Just added not drinking to my wedding to do list. I turn red before I finish one drink…and I hadn’t even thought about this. :/

Goodness, that photographer sounds like my old employer. He would try constantly to get people to do things they weren’t comfortable doing and it would show in the pictures. I don’t think it shows in yours! Everyone looks very happy. I also love the idea of multicolored dresses! I’m planning on doing the same, I just hope it turns out this nice.
