Looking Forward to 2013

Hello there, fellow illustrious members of the hive! Can you believe it’s almost 2013? I thought I needed to write at least one last post before the new year to wrap up a few things before we start the final stretch of wedding planning. I feel kind of bad about being sort of quiet around these parts lately, but if truth be told, not much wedding planning has been going on in the Armadillo household. What HAS been going on around here, though, is presents. ALL KINDS OF PRESENTS! Wanna know what I got for Christmas this year?

OMG!

Seriously, when I opened that Kitchenaid mixer Mr. A got me for Christmas this year, I was rendered completely speechless. Admittedly, it was the one item on our registries I reeeeeally wanted but figured no one would buy for us since it’s a tad bit on the pricey side”¦and Mr. A went off and bought it for me, himself! I guess he figured it’s the gift that keeps on giving, especially since I’ve already used it twice to bake some delicious goodies for him! I’ll admit I’ve been kind of obnoxious with it, but who wouldn’t want to use a sweet piece of culinary machinery like that any chance they’ve got? (“Scrambled eggs for breakfast, you say? Hold on”“I have the appropriate machine for this now. I got this.”)

I also received a very important piece of Weddingbee paraphernalia in the mail the other day from Mrs. Potion:

Thanks, Mrs. P!

I’m all set to incorporate these cute little bees into my wedding day ensemble and I’m so looking forward to including this blogger bee tradition into my wedding day rituals!

Speaking of looking forward to things, I thought that instead of making a list of new year’s resolutions, I’d make a list of all the things I’m looking forward to what 2013 will bring for me and Mr. A. Here are some of the obvious (and not-so-obvious) things I’m looking forward to in the coming year:

1. Getting these pain-in-the-ass-invitations in the mail. Seriously, I have no idea what I was thinking when I decided to completely DIY 210 wedding invitations. I will breathe a serious sigh of relief when these babies are finally dropped off at the post office.

2. Seeing the look on Mr. A’s face when I walk down the aisle. We’re not doing a “first-look,” so I can’t wait to see his reaction when we meet at the altar on our wedding day. And heck, who am I kidding? I can’t wait to see how I’m going to react during my walk down the aisle!

3. Having all of the important people from our various stages in life all in one place at the ceremony and reception. The only other time this ever happens is at your funeral (morbid, I know.) It is seriously going to be SO AWESOME to see all of my amazing friends and family in one place, particularly those friends and family I don’t get to see very often.

4. Moving in together with Mr. A. I’m pretty sure this one doesn’t need further explanation.

5. Getting back to normal, non-wedding planning life after the wedding is over. Don’t get me wrong”“I love all of this wedding planning crap. I just really love my normal life, too. It’ll be nice to not have to constantly think about wedding-related things and instead focus my energy on being married to Mr. A!

6. Having a full-time job. If this doesn’t happen in 2013, I might have to join a support group. Or pull my hair out. Or both.

7. Witnessing the accumulation of the past 18 months of planning come to life in March. And getting the wedding photos back to re-live it.

8. Marrying the love of my life! (Duh!) Through thick and thin, being married to Mr. A is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to start our journey together as husband and wife in 2013!

So, hive, what’s been up with you, lately? Anyone else get anything off their registries this holiday season? What all are you looking forward to in 2013?

Amazing that Mr. A got the mixer for you!! This is totally on our registry too and we are also in doubt that anyone will actually get it for us considering how expensive it is lol. Happy New Year!

Bahaha I’m laughing out loud thinking about making scrambled eggs with a KitchenAid. Mama W got me one earlier this year and I’ve been loving it. Mine is red – for some unknown reason, Mama W thinks my favorite color is red, so our kitchen is pretty decked out in red, with a red KitchenAid, red Le Creuset, red dish towels, etc. It’s very cheerful color though, so it’s not a big deal, just funny :)
I love your 2013 list. Everything on that list is going to rock your world. I’m not sure which feels better, dropping off all of your invitations in the mail or marrying your best friend ;)

I got a Kitchen Aid last year (2011) from my mom for Christmas and I LOVE IT! This was before we were engaged but it was the one for sure thing I knew would go on my registery one day. My registry will now include accessories for my mixer (I only have one that didn’t come with the mixer).

I also can’t wait for my FH to see me walk down the isle as I am not doing a first look either.

I want a standing mixer as well (don’t we all have one on our registries? ;) ) — but I just wanted to say how much I love the color you (or Mr. A?) chose!!

Now that you have the mixer you should really register for the ice cream maker attachment. That sucker will change your life (and your pants size).

I love that stand mixer color. Mine is plain black, but that is because I got a ridiculous deal on it about 5 years ago. After a mail in rebate it cost me $150. I couldn’t pass that up even if it wasn’t the color of my dreams (tangerine anyone?) I did register instead for lots of attachments!

I am looking forward to many of the same things as you, the wedding, being married, being done with wedding planning (19 days, what? where did the time go?) and celebrating with my loved ones.

I will agree with all the PP’s that the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer is just about the best gift to get! I got mine for my 21st Birthday from my aunt and uncle–it’s Navy Blue (even though they call it someother shade of blue) and I ALWAYS make Mr. B decorate around the mixer! (he thinks it should be stored in a cabinet–but he has FINALLY given up this argument!)

I seriously want one of these too! I want to put it on our registry (like you, small hope of anyone actually getting it) but FH thinks it’s more a gift for me than for us… i am totally going to Use your line of the gift that keeps giving to convince him he needs me to have one too!

I GOT ONE TOO!!!!! My hubby unexpectedly gave it to me, in apple green! I was sooooooo excited, especially because we weren’t doing much for gifts this year because of our xmas trip/honeymoon! I can’t wait to use it!

I’ve actually had my stand mixer for a while (love it!) but did manage to knock off new cake pans, brownie bar pans, spatulas, loaf tins, muffin tins, matching Camelbak hiking backpacks, and luggage from our registry. Huzzah!

I have the exact same one and I just adore it. I got the glass mixing bowl to go with it and it’s the prettiest thing I have on my counter top (also useful) :) Enjoy!

I got my stand mixer last year for Christmas but I did receive two things this year that we registered for… an ice cream maker and waffle maker! My gifts definitely make me look like a fatty mcfat fat.

oh gosh the stand mixer. I love it. I am soooo jealous of your amazing yellow color. Ours is white and boring. Would it be wrong to register for another one, just to get a pretty color? You have a busy, busy new year ahead of you!

I want a standing mixer sooo bad. I think I am going to hint to my maids that I would REALLY, REALLY like one and get them to maybe spread the word/have guests at my bridal shower pool for one? Is that wrong?

Everyone knows I am an avid baked and I think I have murdered about 3 hand mixers in 2012.

I loooove the yellow colour you have but I think I am going to go with plain, boring white. I think they have a pearl finish for the white tho now. Hmmm.

I’ve had my stand mixer for years. I used to have the black, then cobalt blue but I’ve had my white one the longest. My Mom had a KitchenAid so of course I thought I needed one too. I’d grown up baking with it and loved it. I love the bright pop of color they bring to a kitchen(although mine is bland white) and the statement it makes: I love to cook! lol

Ok I have to ask, what is the name of that shade? I can’t decide between one of the yellows and the pistachio! I can’t wait to get one!

@Miss Squirrel: Apple green was a close second for me–so cute!
@Miss Mongoose: Happy New Year to you, too! :)
@Mrs. Wallaby: Haha, my parents’ kitchen is all red (along with probably half the walls in their house) and I told Mr. A that I don’t want to see anything red in our place! That red mixer is totally cute, though. ;)
@mkelove: @Mrs. Eagle: @NewfieBullet: @pacNWbride: @halolover: Ahhh, yay! Stand mixer owners of the world, unite!

@Sugar_and_Spice: Wow! You made out like a bandit! Congrats! ;)

@Miss Panda: Hahaha…you can never have too many stand mixers! Maybe switch them out for different seasons? :P

    @Mrs. Pony: Bahaha, DEAL!

@Saus: I’m telling you, just promise him lots of yummy baked goodness if and/or WHEN you get it!
@lovebirds08: Hahahaha…my brother got me the waffle maker off our registry for my birthday, so don’t worry…we can look like fatty mcfat fats together. ;)

@Miss Gray Wolf: Thanks! I seriously love the yellow and I can’t wait to see how it looks in our kitchen!

@mrshollinger: OMG, great idea! You’ll have to let me know if you end up with one! And they also have one with a pretty silver chrome finish if you’re looking for one with a neutral finish. But the white is also really nice!

@MinnesotanInDC: Mine is in the majestic yellow finish…IRL it’s the perfect creamy, buttery shade I envisioned! The pistachio is also really cute…it would look amazing in a retro-inspired kitchen!

That mixer! I want a new one soooo bad. I do have one, but its a hand-me-down from my mother and over 20 years old!

It took me FOREVER to find a decent full-time job. I wish you lots of luck!
