I have a serious addiction to paper products and milk chocolate. My fiancé totally gets my tomboy-princess-combo personality and will bring me chocolate when I need a pick-me-up. After a legal ceremony in Germany, we're planning a down-to-earth (semi-destination) wedding with our friends and family in the US.

Hair Trial & Inspiration

January 3rd, 2013 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Bracelet

When I wear my hair down, I fidget with it. And when it’s up, I wear it in a tight ponytail because I hate it when stray hairs tickle my ears. Thus, I knew from the start that my wedding hair would have to be an updo with sleek sides for me to completely forget about my hair that day. Just like the chignon I wore at our civil ceremony in Germany. But I definitely wanted something different, more playful for our American wedding. And as I’m not immune to trends in the wedding world, many of the photos I saved had braided elements:

Armed with these photos, I had a hair-trial appointment before our wedding with Tacy of Twilight Hair Design in Spearfish, South Dakota. Tacy tried out three different hair/braid styles that day.

As you can see, we started with a simple braided bun. Next we did something similar, but with side braids and a looser feel to the bun. The third style came closest to what I was looking for, with smaller braids on the sides and a braided bun in the back.

What wedding hairstyle are you planning to have?

I love the elegance of your styles, #2 is my favorite, but #3 looks like how I wore my hair for prom, so it’s a tie :)

Your first photo (by Jill Thomas) is the exact same one I took to my hairdresser on my wedding day :)

I love all of your inspiration! #2 was my original hair inspiration, but it looks so.much.better on brunettes. Your hair looks beautiful in all 3 looks from your trial! I can’t wait to see your final choice! :)

Number 2 is the best of the three, then maybe a neater version on Number 1. :)
