Mrs. Wallaby's Picture
Mrs. Wallaby, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Environmental Engineer Engagement Date: January 1, 2012 Wedding Date: November 2012 Venue: Oak Tree Manor About Me: I'm a free-spirited, adventurous girl who loves anything active, reading, traveling, cooking up new dishes for my fiancé, and working on my budding garden. My fiancé is an athletic, intellectual, animal-loving guy with an obsession with basketball and who treats me with the deepest compassion and respect. We are both engineers, and we met at our workplace. Together we complement one another and make a great team, and we are excitedly counting down the days until our outdoor wedding in Houston in November. We're planning a green wedding with lots of Persian cultural touches, and I can't wait to share all of the before-and-after details of our special day
About Mrs. Wallaby

By the end of the first look, Mr. W and I were very relaxed and feeling like ourselves. After the minor drama in the bridal suite, it felt great to just let go and enjoy the day with sweet, calm Mr. W. I mean, look at this guy:

The couple’s portraits were a little bit more work than I expected.

First, Mr. W makes me laugh, and I had a really hard time not laughing in all of the photos. Especially when he’s whispering goofy jokes in my ear, and when we struck some pretty awkward, unnatural poses.

Second, getting around with a three-foot-long train is a lot of work. I admire you women who lugged around even longer trains. Every time we readjusted for a new pose, one of our photogs would have to rearrange my train.

We took a lot of photos around the original bed & breakfast house. There were even some late-blooming roses—gotta love November in warm Houston.

We also did a lot of hugging. In real life, we are big huggers. If one of us is feeling bad? Hug it out. Long, tiring day at work? Hug it out. Something really exciting happen? Hug it out (while jumping up and down).

Remember how Mr. W got on the roof of a car for some extreme photography on our honeymoon? Well, he learned it from the pros. During part of our couple’s portraits, Kat laid all the way on her back in the grass to capture some artsy shots. Bubba Wallaby thought it was so funny that he took a photo of our photographers, taking photos of us.

Extreme photography in action! / Personal photo

Here’s one of those lying-on-the-grass-looking-up photos:

Like I said, we laughed. A lot. Almost the whole time, really.

Oh, and hive, here’s our perfunctory hipster photo, walking toward the camera with serrrrious expressions:

This next photo is one of my favorites from the whole day. Swoon.

I’m a little crazy about buttons. I love the look of buttons running down the back of a wedding dress. Here’s a detail shot of the back of my dress—fellow button lovers, eat your hearts out:

Pssst, wanna know a secret about photographing billowy veils and trains? If it’s not windy out, you can fake it! The wind factor was, like, negative on our wedding day, but we still got a really cool photo of my lace train billowing behind me. One of our photogs picked up the train and threw it up in the air, and the other photographer snapped some photos as the train fell back to the ground. OK, I know that takes all of the drama out of this photo, but I thought I’d share. ;)

I’ll leave you with one more photo of the two of us—our final moment alone before we were swarmed with family members for family portraits. This is one of Mr. W’s faves. I think it captures some of the serenity and intimacy that we shared during those fleeting moments before the ceremony.

Fantastic photos! They are all so unique!

Question for you:
Who is the designer for Mr. Wallaby’s tux? I think my fiancé just decided to rent the same one (Vera Wang) from Men’s Warehouse for our wedding in June.

Mr. W is so handsome and you look gorgeous! Those photos are lovely, and I’m not even a huge fan of first look photos normally :)
Love the dress and LOVE the one where his hands are on your waist, so intimate yet elegant!

Damn girl! These pictures are amazing. I feel like they are from a magazine shoot and not a real life wedding.

Agreed, your dress was absolutely stunning! Great tip with the fake wind/train too. :)
