A “Wow” Accessory

I have this fashion philosophy that for every outfit, there should be just one “wow” component. If I’m wearing a print, everything else will be somewhat neutral. Statement necklace means the rest of my accessories are simple. If I’m wearing something short, then I won’t show any cleavage. Some people are really good at knowing when to mix prints or layer necklaces—I’m just not one of those people, and it helps me to focus on one element.

Long winded intro, but for my wedding look, I’m trying to decide what my “wow” accessory is going to be. I’ve decided this is going to be one of three things: earrings, a belt, or a hair piece.

Before I get into options, here’s something I’ve already picked out: a simple necklace.

I got this one, except for two hearts. Super simple, and brings in some of my green color. (Side note: I am OBSESSED with Edor. I can’t remember how I first found the shop, but it’s perfect for minimalist, everyday jewelry—super affordable too. I think everyone I know has been gifted an Edor necklace from me recently.)

So, I have some places to play around. Perhaps some spangly earrings that bring in my colors?

Both dresses I like are conducive to a fancy, jewel-encrusted belt:

Or something to put in my big updo:

What do you think of these options? Did you have a “wow” accessory, or did you keep it simple?

    Love that second headband!

I let my dress, and my engagement ring, be the wow accessories/factors :)

I think my ‘wow’ accessories were my brooch bouquet and bright red shoes. That’s an adorable necklace!
How much of a ‘wow’ are you going for? Because those hair accessories seem a little tame to me for a ‘wow’ piece.
I like the first belt and the second hair band, but I’m a big advocate of ‘wow’ earrings. Good luck choosing! Can’t wait to see the final product!

I kept it simple with my look. I think I like the belt idea out of the 3 you posted.

I think my “wow” must have been my pearl bracelet. My earring and necklace were also pearls and very nice, but they didn’t jump out at you. I love bracelets.. not that my moniker would give that away or something. ;)

I think mine was my headband, but I also had a belt that was beautiful and added lots of sparkle to my look. I think everything you posted is really pretty, and I can’t decide! Sorry I’m absolutely no help.

I love all your choices, so I’m obviously no help :) I think my statement piece was probably my earrings, although I keep things pretty simple regularly.

I am terrified to try and accessorize my dress. I am so bad with accessories. But all of these options are beautiful and tasteful! I can’t wait to see what you end up going with for your final look!

Those first earrings from BHLD are stunning! I was going to say my earrings were my “wow”.. but I think that award has to go to my hair piece, actually. It’s large, sparkly, and in charge!

I vote headband! I think it brings the focus up to your face without being too distracting. Happy planning!

i bought my “wow” sash on etsy from something ivory….and I LOVE IT! it’s blingy and beautiful. something that’s totally me, but that i wouldn’t normally go for bc it’s so a large wow-er. lol

IMO, I think earrings should be the wow factor! It’s just enough without being too much!

Have you checked out these absolutely fabulous handmade headbands from http://www.beejoos.com/Headbands_s/1840.htm

They are so beautiful and adds a super cool interntational travel touch given that they are from such faraway destinations! I am absolutely obsessed by the white and baby pink ones!
