Mrs. Unicorn's Picture
Mrs. Unicorn, Atlanta, Georgia Age and Occupation: 22, Retail Sales Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Graphic Designer Engagement Date: November 27, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2012 Venue: The Farm About Me: I’m an impatient, impulsive person with a creative side and a flair for the dramatic. I’m very much a DIY sort of girl, and I have the messy craft table to prove it. I worked at a veterinary clinic for the better part of seven years before diving headfirst into the totally different world of sales. I must say, the change has been one for the better; I no longer have clients that bite or scratch, nor does my workplace smell of kitty litter. My true passion, however, is aerial acrobatics and dance, and I hope to open my own studio one day. Mr. Unicorn doesn’t bat an eye when he comes home from work to find his fiancée hanging upside down from a pole. Together, we enjoy shooting things (with a camera), playing Xbox games (my strategy consists primarily of button-mashing), and enjoying the company of our spoiled pit bull named Leeloo. We are planning a fall wedding with lots of DIY details and a rustic-chic vibe. Our budget is tight, but we know we can work around it to plan the wedding we want.

Back from the Dead

January 8th, 2013 @ 1:27 pm by Mrs. Unicorn

Well look who’s back, hive! It’s none other than your very own MRS. Unicorn back from the dead. I kinda left y’all hangin’ after my last post, and I can’t apologize enough. I promise I have a pretty good reason for pulling that disappearing act, though.

Mr. U and I bought our very first house!

Isn’t it adorable???

Gratuitous picture of our couch because I am seriously in love with it and those amazeballs chevron pillows.

It’s still hard to believe that this little beauty is ours! After a lot—I mean A LOT—of negotiating back and forth, we closed on the house the week after Thanksgiving. As if our crazy work schedules weren’t enough, we were quickly caught up in a whirlwind of packing and moving and holiday mayhem.

Can you ever forgive me?

Anywho. I figured the best way to kick off the Unicorn recaps is with the wedding video! I am so thrilled with how it came out; it was honestly worth every penny. I had been on the fence about having a videographer, but I am so glad Mr. U and I took the plunge and splurged. The videographer we hired was great to work with and made sure to capture the entire wedding from start to finish.

Without further ado, I give you our wedding video, shot by the wonderfully talented Landon Donoho.

@Treasure: Thanks! It’s my favorite Etsy find. If only there were more reasons to wear veils.

@Elephant: So so so worth it, right???? We ended up sending it to folks who couldn’t make it to the wedding, too.

@Toadstool: Thanks!!!

@Pain au Chocolat: I just need you to know that the hubs just read your comment and said, “Well Mrs. Pain of Chocolate is tearing up.” As in pain. Like when you accidentally slice your finger open. That kind of pain. Hahahaha. Quickly explained to him that although it looks like “pain,” it’s pronounced “pan” (sort of). But thanks for your sweet comment. New hubby, new house….2012 was such a big year!

@Pony: Thanks, lady!

@ecjohnson: I can already tell your wedding is going to be amazing if you’re incorporating chevron fabulousness!

@Sword: You’re sweet for noticing the decor. Awfully proud of it since most of it was DIY. You just made my day!

@Paris: If you’re considering hiring a videographer, DO IT! Soooo worth it.

@Panda: Oh stop it! You’re making me blush. -gigglesnort-

I have to note – a lot of your guests wore blue too! Did you guys plan that, or was it happy accident?

Wow, your video had this vintage old-movie feel to it… like it’s already a classic. So many good moments! I loved when the woman caught the flowers and fanned herself. Timed so well with the Shakira music! :P Looks like it was a wonderful, beautiful day!

I love everything about your video. Especially the ceremony glass not breaking! And the thing where you lift the chairs. And just the general happiness. :)
