Two Wheels Become One: On the Town

Since we had a “Catholic gap” in our wedding day, I thought it would be fun to choose an alternate photo location for wedding-party photos. This way we could also enjoy the limo more! (I must still be a child because I found riding in a limo to be one of the most exhilarating parts of the day. Kidding. Or…am I?)

The guys were jealous of our matching sunglasses, so they donned mismatching sunglasses.

There’s a cute and urban-looking town near our church that I thought would make a great photo backdrop. It’s the most urban-looking setting way out in the burbs, anyway. My bridesmaids had all gone over there earlier in the morning since that’s where their hair salon was, and while there, they discovered that there was a street fest going on that weekend. Now, Mr. Unicycle and I had gone with our photographer to scope out photo spots earlier that week, so I already knew about the street fest. Our photographer had said it would be fine, and I was all “c’est la vie,” but when my bridesmaids found out they said, “OMG someone has to tell Miss Unicycle about this!” and freaked out about who had to break the news to me.

They had phoned with trepidation, and I could tell they were relieved when I didn’t act like a big ol’ bitch about it. Crisis averted!

The place was crowded and there were tents and booths set up, but we didn’t mind.

To be honest, I kind of liked the attention. There were several fest-goers who took pictures of us too (apparently a bride is a tourist attraction). I pretended to be creeped out, but I secretly loved it, obviously.

When the bridesmaids actually got in the fountain, the tourists ate that shiz up. It was like being famous!

I stayed out where it was safe and dry.

“Can we stop smiling now?”

Then we rendezvoused with the dudes and took pics together. Now, I know what you’re thinking: posing in front of these bushes kind of defeats the purpose of going to a fake urban-looking area. And to that, I have no response.

My brothers’ faces (both on the right) creep me out so much here. Should you really cheer like that when your sister is getting kissed? The jury is out. (To be fair, they were only taking directions. Still, creepy.)

One of my bridesmaids likes what she sees.

Then we wandered over to an alley with a cool arch thing.

And we learned how to make a GIF solely because these two photos lent themselves so well.

And we took still more photos in front of this ivy-covered wall. Fun fact: This wall belongs to a bar where I once saw a broken-bottle fight happen. I vowed never to return. Well, except for my wedding photos.

And here you can see people gawking at just how freakishly good looking we both are. My photographer was right—the street fest only made our photo experience better.

Are you going to go somewhere public for your photos?

That. Is. SO. Cool! I love the fountain pics! I’m considering an urban/downtown-y setting for my reception, so I think I’ll have to follow suit and go window shopping in my dress for some pictures after the ceremony (if only for the attention!) ;)

Love your photos! (And captions). There is also a festival goin on in my town the weekend of my wedding, including an air show with vintage WWII planes. We are hoping to head down there and get some awesome pictures. I don’t mind any on lookers. ;)

Love this post! You were such a pretty bride and you guys got so many great group shots. The brothers do look kinda creepy when you know they are related to you, but the girl’s pic is really cute.

And yes, I also enjoyed feeling like a celebrity for a day as a bride. (And again for our trash the dress.) People are just so nice to you and come up and congratulate you. But I really do wonder what the heck tourists do with their bride photos. I always find that kinda weird.

I had people stop outside the bridal salon and stare at one of my fittings. I ate that shiz up.

    You look great!

Ok, this made me literally LOL: “Fun fact: This wall belongs to a bar where I once saw a broken-bottle fight happen. I vowed never to return. Well, except for my wedding photos.” Do you have a blog? Because I would read the hell out of it if you did…

haha Are we calling it “the Catholic Gap” now? Cuz I like it. I never understood why people complained about gaps between the ceremony and reception because that’s just the norm for me.

@mariewest: vintage planes?? Sign me up! Too bad I’m already married.

@Mrs. Funnel Cake: Aww thanks! BTW, after reading your TTD post I was soo tempted to do one with a snowy backdrop. I’m kind of scared to try it on now though in case it already doesn’t fit hahaha

@Scc6a: haha thanks! I DO have a blog, but I have been severely neglecting it for a long time and hoping to build it up and focus on it when I’m done here. You can check it out now though if you want! http://karisa-tells-all.blogspot.com/ (thanks for reading the hell out of me :)

I think my favorite part is the bridesmaids dress. So cute, they’re the shiz. :)
    Also your GIF is brilliant!

These are all so good, I love the ones in front of the wall of ivy (probably because it reminds me of Wrigley Field).

Good thing you’re already a writer, because I was about to suggest you become a caption writer for a living. Best. captions. EVER. And I, too, will be checking your blog!

This post may or may not have inspired me to pull my wedding dress back out of the closet to wear to the next street fair I attend.
