One Treasured Day: The Somethings

January 10th, 2013 @ 11:39 am by Mrs. Treasure

You all know the saying: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

These are the things that every bride is supposed to have with her on her wedding day. I’ve always loved this little tradition, and was happy to fulfill it (and go above and beyond, really) on my wedding day. Here are my “somethings.”

Something old: I wore a brooch on my dress from the 1940s. I hope that someday, I can pass it down to my daughter or daughter-in-law to wear on her wedding day.

Something new: I had lots of new things. My dress, bolero, veil, necklace, shoes, and wedding ring were all new, but I guess if I had to pick just one thing, it’d have to be my dress.

Something borrowed: I had two borrowed items with me on my wedding day. The first was a set of bee charms passed from Weddingbee blogger to Weddingbee blogger. My two bees had previously been possessed by Mrs. Meerkat, Ms. Gazelle, Ms. Parasol, Mrs. Ticket, Ms. Ferris Wheel, Mrs. Doe, Mrs. Aardvark, Mrs. Unicycle, and Mrs. Genie.

The second item was my grandad’s rosary. Sadly, he was unable to be with us as he passed away in 2009. It was so special to carry a piece of him with me down the aisle. I’m sure his Irish eyes were smiling down on us from above and that he was busy telling everyone up in heaven that his Molly Malone was the most beautiful bride they ever did see.

Something blue: I knew from the beginning I didn’t want to wear white shoes, so this was the perfect place to inject my blue item. I am still completely obsessed with my amazing shoes, and it seems my photographer’s assistant was, too, because she got a lot of shots of them.

@Kate: They’re from Wallis, a British company, but unfortunately, they’ve been discontinued.
