Mrs. Mongoose's Picture
Mrs. Mongoose, New Haven, CT Age and Occupation: 28, Digital Advertising Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Business Development Engagement Date: November 19th, 2011 Wedding Date: May 2013 Venue: Hotel Nelligan in Montreal, CA About Me: I was born and raised in Queens, NY (though you would never know due to my lack of a "real" New York accent) but currently live in Connecticut with my fiance. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a crazy obsession for planning and organizing things, so it comes as no surprise that I'm currently obsessed with planning our wedding. I love dancing, music, traveling, reading fiction novels, cooking, the color blue, cupcakes, all things space science-related and TV shows created by Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. My fiance and I have been together for seven years and are so excited to finally get married next year. We are planning a peacock-themed destination wedding in Montreal, one of our favorite cities in the world, with 100 or so of our closest family and friends. While we may look very different on the outside, we have eerily similar personalities (probably due to the fact that we share the exact same birthday) and share very similar passions. But above all else, we love each other and love to have FUN!!!

My “Something Blue” Is…Shoes!

January 15th, 2013 @ 11:15 am by Mrs. Mongoose

Since blue has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember, it was important to me that the color be incorporated within the wedding. With the color teal chosen as a main color for our peacock-themed wedding, integrated in everything from the save the dates to the invites to the bridesmaids’ dresses, I wanted to utilize teal/blue in another, not necessarily traditional way.

Everyone knows the old saying Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” so for my something blue, I decided that I wanted it to be my shoes! So of course the next logical step was to create a board just for shoes on Pinterest for inspiration. Can you guess which ones I ultimately decided on?

And the winner is…the glittery gold and teal Kate Spades (Corinne)! When I saw that shoe—that perfect shoe which encapsulated both my wedding colors so seamlessly—I just knew I had to have it. Initially in my search, I was pretty set on getting a shoe that was either three inches or three-and-a-half inches since I plan on dancing up a storm, however Corinne only comes in four inches, so I’ll just have to spend the next few months breaking her in.

What will your “something blue” be?

LOVE THEM! If they’d come out before I bought my shoes, I’d have bought them for my wedding. I absolutely love Kate Spade, and those shoes are perfection.

All of these shoes are awesome. I think I have shoe envy since I can’t wear heels due to some bad knees.

I haven’t figured out what my something blue is going to be just yet. Hopefully an aquamarine ring that was my Mothers.

Have spent the last 10 minutes drooling over the Corinne…WHY wasn’t it around when I got married in September?!

So jealous and they’re on sale now on the Kate Spade website! Hope you got the sale price.

The first thing I noticed about your choice was that it had both your wedding colors, great idea! They are perfect.

So much fun! :) My wedding colour was teal and I also had my shoes be my ‘something blue’! They looked almost exactly like the Dolce Vita ones up there.

Gorgeous choice! Question for you– where are you finding those Kate Spade shoes? I have been all over the website and haven’t seen many of the ones you posted. Is there a secret part? :)

@Almost Mrs.P:

Hi!

I noticed that too, when I put the names into the search bar, or checked the sale shoes, they weren’t there.

However, when I googled Kate Spade Corinne, they came right up.

Must be a glitch on the website, quick get them before they’re gone!
